mine is in the middle. She ALWAYS gives her opinion byt that is b/c my DH ALWAYS asks her for it

Well last night I was telling mine we want to move, (we have wanted to move for about 8 months now) we NEED more room!

Anyway, she keeps telling me to relax

Mine does give her opinion. But shes always so sweet about it! I guess its just a 'mommy's advicE' thing, and we'll do the same to our kids and their spouses

and most of the time she does
sometimes she says to much but it doesnt influence me or him

My MIL is truly heaven sent! If asked, she's honest with her opinions, but does not butt into our business at all.

I owe so much to my DH's brothers wives. They broke her in well

Nope! Everyone leaves us alone. My family knows I'm not a fan of unwanted opinions and that I am very independant so they don't bother us...and both of our families live far away so we have our nice uninterupted life which is very nice!

Don't get me wrong my mil is great to us, but she butts in all the time. She always tells me what to do about a situation between me and dh.

I don't think a teflon muzzle could shut the old cooter up. Sooo has an opinion on everything. Right now I'm battling her tooth and nail because she's trying to wrangle some legal manuevers to have her mother 'committed' and become the POA over her assets, etc.. Her mother is so wonderful and TOTALLY lucid, so I'm doing all the behind the scene stuff for Grandma to look into orders of protection from her daughter and stuff (at her request for help). Fayhe would be thrilled to have her mother shut away for good and for her to have power over her $$$.

She's just not happy if she's not controlling every facet of everyone's life.

Shamee- OMG That is awful. That women is toxic. I know there are a few lawyers on this site. Becky is one of them. Perhaps she can offer you some advise. I think Elder Law lawyers can also really help.

My MIL would give her opinion, I guess, if we asked her. She is a very nice person but I don't really ever feel the need to ask her for help. My family is the one who loves to give their opinions.

Shamee, she sounds like a nightmare!!

Jenn, maybe your MIL didn't mean to sound the way she did? Maybe it's part of the adjustment process?? Keep an eye on it, and if she does it again, I'd speak to her or DH about it.

My MIL gives her opinion but we end up doing what we want in the end.
