Does your office have...

an office mooch? We have this one girl who is contstantly mooching off the rest of us! It usually has something to do with food. She never brings food of her own and is always asking if she can 'taste' what we are eating! Then..when people bring in food for everyone in the office to enjoy..she gets like 3-4 helpings...AND makes a plate to take home! Its not like she is broke of anything...just a mooch!

I had one at my old office, the BOSS. Guy would never wash his hands too, so I learned after a while what he didn't like, so I'd bring that in so he wouldn't try to take from me. His theory was 'he signed my paycheck to buy the food'.

Re: Does your office have...

There are a couple...luckily, I have my own personal fridge that I share with one other person. She will never touch my food.

If I do have to put something in the communal fridge (like, if it's too large to put in my little fridge), I literally put a sign on there:

'THIS BELONGS TO KRIS. IF YOU TOUCH IT, SHE WILL KILL YOU. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE SHE IS THE ONE WHO IS WRITING THIS RIGHT NOW.' with a skull and crossbones drawn on it.

Re: Does your office have...

Since I'm in a 5/6 person office, there's no real mooch, but BIL usually takes some of mine and DH's food, like fries or if we order this veggie flat crust pizza he takes a couple pieces.

The Mom used to take our fries with her grubby fingers, but I think she realized that I find that gross, so now she waits until we're done OR I set some aside for her when I get them initially.

Re: Does your office have...

I have about 200 of them- all the highest payed attorneys.

You should see them roaming the halls, poking their heads into conference rooms (in the middle of meetings!!) searching for free lunch.

Re: Does your office have...

OMG funny this topic should come up because the moochers in my office were around today!

Every month, the CEO hosts a birthday breakfast for everyone who celebrates a birthday that month (and today they had the january b'day breakfast). They cater with breakfast sandwiches, bagels, fruit salad, hash browns and it's like an hour long and people can sit and chat and have breakfast...

whenever the breakfast ends, these 2 guys ALWAYS come down (it's like they have a radar and the alarm goes off) and they swoop in like vultures and make massive plates of food that they claim to be 'sharing' with their whole department.

yeah ok.

sure, some people come and pick at the leftover food later on so it doesn't go to waste, but these guys are literally there every single time there is free food...

Re: Does your office have...

OMG....I have a story to tell you.

This one co-worker we started working around the same time. And when we first went out to lunch one day, she asked if i could pay for her coz she didn't have any money. It was happening everytime we went out. She would always pay up, but it was a bit annoying at first.

Then one day we went out for dinner for someone's b-day. Actually I went with her hubby and her in their car. When we are paying, she asks me if I can lend her money to pay. I was thinking to myself, wow they didnt' bring enough money? Why not put it on your card or something. After the dinner I accompanied them to a nearby electronics store and I see her hubby bring out a wad of 20's. So I am thinking to myself why the heck did she ask me for money?

Then, the final straw was....we went to the city to celebrate another b-day party for our co-workers. We were supposed to meet up at around 10 pm. I was running late and leaving LI at that time and I had just gone through the drive-up ATM. I get a phone call and guess who? Yep, this girl calls me and tells me that she is at the place with her hubby and if she could borrow some money from me, since there was no ATM's around where they were. Uh hello they live in queens and drove to the city, like they couldn't stop by an ATM on the way? So I purposely took my sweet a$$ time and got there right when they were about to leave.

I think I complained to someone about it and they eventually told her coz since then I have not been asked again to lend out $$$.

I mean talk about the nerve!!

Re: Does your office have...

Well we USED to have a mooch that was REALLY bad but he ended up getting laid off. We do have the 'owner' who comes in and looks for food all the time and the expeditor but I usually tell the expeditor 'bring us food once and awhile and we'll supply you food more often'. The 'owner', I of course can't say that to.

I have to say...she has no shame. She is one of those people who sweets talk her way to get what she wants. So ppl feel bad saying no, especially guys. Now I see the guys we go to lunch with buying her lunch.

Going back the when I I was at the electronics store with her and her hubby, her hubby proudly said to me, 'just watch my wife in action....she will walk out of here with something for free'. She was trying to see if she could get a free camera out of them. That didn't happen but the guy helping her gave her a pack of batteries for free.

I mean really have you ever heard of such a thing? Never have I ever!!!
