EARTHQUAKE IN LA--5.8

-- A magnitude 5.8 earthquake has rattled Los Angeles, California

Cnn says 'The quake's epicenter was about 2 miles southwest of Chino Hills and about 5 miles southeast of Diamond Bar, the USGS said.'

And a 5.8 is considered 'moderate' typically only causing slight damage to buildings and other structures; I'm sure your SIL is aok, but it owuld be good to call her anyway!!!

That is crazy. My girlfriend came home last night. It hit exactly where she was staying.

a guy I work with, his daughter lives in LA. They just bought the house. There is a huge crack in her ceiling from her dining room to her kitchen. She was working from home today. Shes freaking out.

Right now there are NO reports of injuries or structural damage... thats what I'm hearing on the news here.

it was really weird actually! i didn't know what it was until I went onto LIF and read Phyl's post about the earthquake.

i was just laying in bed with my laptop and felt some shaking... i seriously thought our neighbors were going at it or something... but then i heard the fridge shaking too! and i was just thinking... w t f ????

That is so scary I would have freaked out. Thank God no major injuries are being reported.

I erad the news articals about this. I guess now they say it was a 5.4 and so far no one has been reported missing or seriously hurt or anything as a result. So hopefully the impact wasn't huge.
