just let the photographer know that you are not happy with the layout and that you had a different vision---be specific in what you don't like. no need to tread softly--this is important to you---tell him EXACTLY what you don't like and want changed.

Can you tell him that you don't like it and that you want a portion of your money back so that you can get this done yourself (or to hire someone else to do it)? Or if you haven't paid him in full yet, can you tell him that you won't make the last payment unless he changes this?

Normally they should show you the layout so you can approve it before they put it into print. Did they do that?

You could either try explaining to the photographer exactly what it is that youre not happy with and show examples of what youre looking for. Or I wonder if you can get your money back for that portion of work and then have someone else put it together or see what you can do on your own. I know there are plenty of girls who have done their own albums....Jenn AKA Peteysbride is awesome with that stuff

Well, at least you can make changes if you don't like it. I would maybe go on another site that has albums...and try to copy something you like. I know graphi studios has a website.

I am sorry you are unhappy Jen. SUX because albums are so important to us as a memory.

Ok from a designer's point of view...Its really pretty bad.... all i can say for them, is that being a phenomenal photographer does not make you a good graphic designer, just as being an amazing graphic designer doesn't mean you can take pictures worth a hoot. I stink as a photographer. My SIL stinks at graphic design lol so we work together.

BUT you can have them do it over until you're happy with it. One thing you can do liek I told Tara when I was helping her with hers because she was unhappy with hers, is find pics of other album pages you like. Print them and show them to your photographer or email if there is a certain style you like.

FM me if you want to talk about-maybe we can narrow down some ideas of what you'd like it to look like and then we can wok on making some sort of visual to take to your photographer-it worked when I helped Tara (GettinHutched) and she did it.

I second that from a graphic designer's point of view it's pretty bad...i...but the good thing is your pics are gorgeous.. Anyway...maybe ask him to show you some other client's layouts to see if he has some more creative ones...and then you can reference things you like from those?

Even just rotating some of the overlay pics slightly would make the pages look alot better...tell him to hire PeteysBride!!! Good luck...at least you know it can be changed!!!

But all kidding aside, Jenn, you were one of the prettiest brides I have seen on here, your Dh is a good-looking guy and you guys took good pics so its not like its THAT hard to work with what you have.

Some brides just dont speka up and you have to-as a designer I can say its really hard when brides micromanage because unless you have a design background you should for the most part trust in your person and let them work their magic. BUT if the magic ain't there...SPEAK UP!. Politely, but firmly.

I know how you feel. I HATED my layout when I got it. I basically changed every page. It took awhile but now I have an album that I love. I'm sure they are more then willing to help with changes!!!

I'm sorry you're not happy with your album! I've been going through getting mine edited for about a month now, so I know how you feel! I wasn't happy with mine at all when I first saw it, either. I ended up sending her a ridiculously long email about all the changes I wanted made. Each time she emails me back the changes I'm still not completely happy ( I think we've gone through about 3 emails so far). I'm just being very honest with her about exactly what I want. It's getting to be very frustrating though because for the amount of money that a professional album costs, I shouldn't have to do this much work! I wish I had known about the DIY websites to make albums before I booked my photographer. I could have just done it myself for cheaper! Good luck with your album! Just don't be afraid to tell your photographer exactly what you want!

Did you see previous work that he had done in the past? The problem lies is if you booked him while knowing he did work like that. I would emphasize to him to change some of the last pages. Clearly it does look thrown together, the colors dont' make sense together that he used, especially around the border.... If that does not' work out you can do a DIY album and cut your losses.

I heard the new Shutterfly albums are pretty sweet, I saw some at work the other day.. easy to make :)

I agree with the other girls, tell him you arent happy. Look at some of the other girls' layouts and see the different styles that you like and show him.

That stinks that you dont like it
