Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

Oh no...I didn't have that problem...my DH's not really a dancer but he did anyway.

Try to explain that if he dances on the wedding night it would mean a lot to you...let him know that no one really cares whether he is a good dancer or not...all that really matters is that he haves fun!!!

Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

I had that issue with my dh. He isn't really a dancer. He'll slow dance but that's it. I was going to tell him how much it would mean to me if he'd dance but then realized how much it would mean to him if I respected that he was uncomfortable and didn't force the issue.

Good point...if he truly is uncomfortable, I wouldn't force the issue. They'll be plenty of other dancers there...and who knows, maybe he'll see how much fun everyone is having and will join in on his own!

Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

I'm not going top force the issue but I do tell him that I would love it if he danced. I have been with him for over 3 years and I have yet to slow dance with him. We haven't been to alot of weddings or anything but he gets really embarrassed. It's like pulling teeth to get him to slow dance. I said to him....so I guess we are going to do the rock back and forth dance huh???? You know that sway thing, LOL

Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

I think once he gets there and sees that everyone is dancing, including his bride , he will get up and join you.
I highly doubt he is going to want to sit out of his own wedding.

Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

My husband likes to dance at weddings so I wasn't worried about our wedding.

But, I know many of our male friends who NEVER dance at weddings, but when it came to their own weddings, they were so happy and overwhelmed by the emotion and having all their friends and family there that they became dancing machines! If only for that one night!

Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

If he really hates to dance, I wouldn't push the issue. Remember it's *his* day too so he should not have to dance more than the first dance if he doesn't want to. I'm sure he'll do the mother/son dance (if applicable). And if he has a few drinks maybe it will loosen him up but I would not stress about it. You'll have a great time don't worry
ETA: maybe he isn't good at slow dancing which is why he hates it. Sign up at a dance studio for a few lessons - perhaps it will loosen him up - and tell him it's just for the first dance so that he feels more confident about it (I have a feeling he'll dance more that night)

Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

It's really funny. My DH was so nervous about dancing at the wedding and in general has been difficult to get to dance at weddings. But he at our wedding he danced almost every dance with me and just had fun. After our wedding he said that he now realizes that his 'duties' are when he goes to a wedding are to eat, drink, dance, smile, laugh and have a good time.

Re: FI refusing to dance at wedding?????

Neither FH nor I are big dancers. When we go to people's weddings when my good girlfriends aren't there (that is, his friend's weddings), we only dance the slow dances together. At weddings with my girlfriends, I'll dance with them to fast songs. FH pretty much never dances to fast songs, and I wouldn't feel right pressing the issue with him. He feels uncomfortable doing it (even though he's actually quite good), so I wouldn't want him to feel uncomfortable at our own wedding! If he's having fun on the sidelines with his friends, that's fine with me. But, I think b/c I'm not a big dancer either, I'm sensitive to the issue, since I certainly don't like it when other people try to make me dance! It's just not something that everyone enjoys.
