FINALLY going to DMV today to change my name....

Just a warning out there for all you NWs... I didn't change the name on my license yet (laziness I guess would account for this, plus I LOATHE going to the DMV) but changed my credit cards, social security, etc. Hubbie and I went away last weekend to the West Coast and whoops I forgot the reservations were made in my married name (I charged them on my credit card) but my license does not match. It caused some problems with all the security at the airport. It was really more of a pain in the a** to explain to them it was my maiden name, show them hubbie's license (which has the same address), etc. Just a warning to all those who haven't changed theirs and are planning on flying!

Next up: tackle the PASSPORT!!!

One question do I have to do my car title/registration today too? Or can I put that off for another day?!

You change your registration and title the same day you change your name on your license.
You also have to change your car insurance immediately after and ask for new insurance cards right away.If you have access to a fax,they can send you a copy that way.

UGH... got back, couldn't get the license because they have a new rule you have to bring your social security card! I have to go back next week!!

I just went last week...and I've been putting it off since JULY!! I went to Garden City and I didn't need my SS card...only the marriage certificate

I made a reservations in my married name by accident in Dec...but luckily I had my health insurance card (that says I'm a government employee) with my married name...I told them right away...so I wouldn't seem suspicious...

I didn't change my titles...

DMV was a complete pain in the @ss. I had to wait on line forever, but they were at least a little helpful. I changed my name on my license as well as my title and registration. They didn't need my SS card - just marriage certificate.
