FINALLY!!!! Makeup look #2: Nude lip, smokey eye (with pics!)

Ok so I think I nailed this eye look FINALLY but you girls didn't tell me I would have to channel my inner drag queen for this!!

I started out a little heavier than I would for a night out and the flash kept washing me out. Then i remembered my wedding day makeup artist telling me you need to cake it on thicker than normal for photoshoots because of the flash so I tried again. Third time was finally the charm. I looked like SUCH A ***** LMFAO in person. BUT on camera I think it finally looks great. I went with browns. Went to Sephora to the girl who recommended my nude lip color (LOVE her!) and she did my eyes for me. But she did say it was too light an application for film. SO I made it heeavier gradually. I wish you guys could have seen me in person!

This will definetly be the 'end look' for my shoot. I will start off with an almost nude eye with just cat eye liner and pinker lip.

What do you guys think? I felt whorey in person but Pete was around and he said he likes the 'trashy look: because I am his wife so its allowed for 'his eyes only.' Im thinking HAH if only you knew buddy these pics WILL be for your eyes only! Erm..and for the LIW ladies :wink:

ETA: I might have to change my foundation because it is still photographing light. Sephora girl told me to just apply heavier bronzer so I will try that first tomorrow and see how it works cause soooo hard to find non SPF foundations in general, much less in a shade flattering for my skin.

Your eyes came out fantastic!!!! You need a light glossy lip and maybe a little pinker on the cheeks!!! You did a GREAT JOB!!!!!

NARS Casino? Thats the one I use too! Hah I knew you rocked I have it on in the pics but not heavy enough. I tried it again today but didnt post the pics yet. I lathered it on and in person I felt WHOA hooker alert! But it photographed fine. I am sooo glad I didn't do my own makeup the day of cause this sh*t is stressful!


ha ha to funny! i heard that the best blush for Casino is the NARS 0rgasm - i havent bought it yet bc i use a cheapie AVON blush that i love but once it runs out i am going to buy it

i cant wait to see thes pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 0rgasm Its a little light for me unless I layer it on, but adds a nice shimmer. I usually use Torrid by NARS. Or Gilda if want no additional shine.

Thanks Jess. Its..hmmm ok let me see..

Eyeshadows:
-Smashbox in BRONZE (over lid)
-Smashbox in ETCH (over that in V shape)
-Smashbox in CHAMPAGNE (highlighter shade)
-Urban Decay in JONES (its on the inner part of the lid and corners)

That was what she originally applied. To make it darker I added a cheapie LOREAL eyeshadow in Raven to the other corners then a lighter highlighter shade byLORAC over the champagne.

Blush:
NARS in Torrid.

Bronzer:
NARS in Casino

Lips:
Gloss in Stolen Kisses by NARS
Lipstick in Belle DuJour by NARS

I was trying not to go too heavy on the blush ebcause I thought with smokey eyes, you're supposed to go minimal everywhere else right? Or am I wrong?

i don't know the meaning of minimal! not w/ makeup. ill do a glossy lip, pinky blush and a shadowy eye. i just do what i think looks good and makes me feel good!

hmmm, well...i have heard MU artists say you play up one feature and don't overdo the others, so maybe your right. but i dont think a touch more rosey on the cheeks would hurt ya!

I do have the bare escentuals foundation. I just don't wear it much because I prefer the liquid kind but does that ahve an SPF in it? WIll that phtopgraph better do you think than an oil fee with SPF? I know I will need to add bronzer though.


hey jen - just saw this! BE foundations DO have spf in it...they're spf 15 and are also oil free. the spf doesn't effect the look at all. ANY oil free product will photographer better than a regular liquid or powder because it doesn't separate from the surface of the skin. Think of oil & water and how they separate when u try to mix them.... Your skin has natual water content...so thats why when u wear a foundation that has oils in it, throughout the day it needs to be touched up or can photograph funny...because it literally separates from the hydration in ur skin.. when something is oil free is works WITH ur skins natural hydration. hope this helps???

ps: if u prefer a liquid foundation I used to wear neutrogena. I always felt like it looked natural & photographed well. Not sure if ALL of their foundations are oil free, but i know the one i used was (the skin clearing one). U can also try the M.A.C studio fix...but apply it with their big buffing brush for ultimate coverage...it's a powder but it's great for photography...hence why it's called 'studio' fix. good luck!

Yea I did. it looked good but I had no other makeup on so I am going to try the eye again from scratch on my own and then photograph it so i don't confuse people lol who start with 'Well I love your foundation but your eyes really need more work...'

Wait till you guys see me in eprson..OYE I look soooooo made up. Its CRAZY. You know i dont normally wear heavy makeup but I have to cake it on for the shoot-like those pics it was DARK trashy but doesn't show up that way on film.
