Tell me what you did or what your plans are?
Did you and DH get gifts for each other?

I want to go away for a long weekend.
Our wedding date was a Friday and our 1st anniversary is a Saturday, so I am thinking a Friday - Monday weekend. I was thinking maybe Cape Cod or Newport. I need to do some research.
Whats the 'gift by year'?
For our 5 year anniversary, Kauai here we come. We loved Kauai and we want spend a full 2 weeks there.

Re: First Anniversary
Well, I don't know what you call it but gift by year is a predetermined different gift for each year of marriage. First year is paper, 25 is silver, 50 is gold.....every year has a gift.
We went to Key West, FL for our first anniversary...that was it, no other gifts...except for the book I bought DH for him to read on the plane and by the pool. Our anniversary is a few weeks before Christmas and we bought a house 7 months ago...so, we just couldn't afford anything else!!!!!

Re: First Anniversary
We just booked a cruise for our 1st anniversary. I don't think we will buy each other gifts. The vacation will be our gift to each other.

Re: First Anniversary
we were thinking of a long weekend in Cape Cod or Marthas Vineyard or something like that and stay at a nice Bed & Breakfast. We were going to do Jamaica, but $ may not allow that. And I may or may not be pregnant at the time. Prices are still low that time of year (usually get raised after memorial day) so that's what we'll probably do.
Haven't thought about gifts yet.

Re: First Anniversary
We are going to go away for a long weekend to Las Vegas. We are not going to buy each other gifts since the weekend will be our gift to each other. ETA: I guess DH will follow the anniversary tradition gifts in that if First Anniversary is paper, DH is going to buy my a card so I guess he is going to follow at least the First Anniversary tradition.

Well, we STILL have not decided where we want to go on our honeymoon...so maybe we'll do that for our first anniversary.

OMG, you will LOVE it there! We went to the Bahamas last month and stayed at the crappy Holiday Inn in Paradise Island, but we walked over to Atlantis and paid an admission fee to see all of the aquariums. We weren't allowed on any of the beaches, pools, or slides, since we weren't guests of that hotel, but I honestly don't think that's policed very much.
It was AMAZING!!! You will LOVE LOVE LOVE it there!!!

Re: First Anniversary
We went with the paper theme.
I got him tickets to see his favorite hometown football team when they played here in Chicago and a creme brulee cookbook with a promise to make it often b/c its his favorite.
He took our engagement picture and had it drawn by an artist in pencil - it looks just like the b&w picture - its amazing. He said it was something paper to keep forever and remember our decision to get married.

Re: First Anniversary
Our anniversary was on Monday. We both took a week of vacation and spent 4 days out at my in-laws summer place then we went to the Poconos for 5 days!!!!
I got my DH tix to a Boston/Yankee game the day we came home from our Poconos trip. So I stuck with the paper gift. My DH (not knowing anything about 'traditional' gifts) got me jewelry (never bad in my eyes ) He got me a charm that says '#1 Wife' and a few others too.

Re: First Anniversary
our anniversary is on a Sunday and I'm off the Monday after it too. We don't have the $$ to go away in March so we were thinking maybe a belated trip to where we HM since we loved it so much.
I would like to get some professionally done 'sexy' pictures done for him (it's paper!) but not sure if I'm comfortable enough in my own skin to do it. I was thinking of tickets to a concert or something around 3/6 if anything is going on.
