First Anniversary Gift?

What did you ladies get your husbands for your first anniversary? I'm having a tough time with this one. I don't want to get him the typical gifts I usually get him because I don't feel like they're romantic/sentimental enough. We've talked about not getting each other anything for our anniversary since we're taking the day off of work and have planned a nice day together, but I still feel like I want to commemorate the occassion with a gift. Any ideas?

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

Why not make a nice romantic dinner? You could also get a miniature cake of the flavor wedding cake you had. And a beautiful card of course.

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

I think I am going to try and get him Ranger tickets, they go on sale tomorrow and fits in with the 'paper' anniversary, although I don't think you need to follow that at all. I told my husband you don't need to follow paper, DIAMONDS are always nice, hee hee. But he'd love to go to a Ranger game anyway....

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

we went to Vegas and saw 'O' (plane tickets and show tickets were our 'paper').

I also got Al a guitar he wanted, and crystal wine tasting glasses (they're different from normal glasses - special for tasting).

He got me a diamond bracelet.

We thought it appropriate to splurge on this anniversary, since it was our FIRST

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

I got him a sports jacket. He is so into them now it seems, he is getting out of his suit phase and I thought it would be a nice addition to his business attire.

Forgot to add, he paid for our airline tkts to St Martin and Anguilla

He also got me saphhire and diamond necklace and earring set.

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

It's paper for traditional and clocks for modern first year anniversary. We recently celebrated ours. I'd asked him and he's undecided. He gave me Shania Twain concert tickets. I like Shania Twain. One of my BMs sang 'From This Moment On' during our wedding reception in honor of us. I did not want a book since the first year anniversary is special as it marks the first year together surviving. I did wanted a small grand father clock but wanted to save money.

He's undecided.

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

I made my husband a special dinner when we got home from our trip. We went to Vegas for our anniversary and he had flowers delivered to our room and gave me earrings on the way to the airport and took me to a nice dinner on our actual anniversary night. I didnt think we were going to exchange gifts. I just thought our trip to Vegas was our gifts.

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

Thanks for the great advice! I had no idea about the clock thing. For his birthday I made up a bunch of 'coupons' for him. Now I wish I had saved that as my paper gift.

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

We did vacation 'tickets' as our first anniversary. And since it was Hawaii and we spent a fortune on the day of the anniversary, I gave him lotto ticket with our date on it, a personalized 'romance' novel. He gave me a certificate where I'm entitled to have him do anything I want for a whole day (I'm waiting for a good shoe shopping day!!). We went to dinner where we got married that night.

Re: First Anniversary Gift?

We also didn't do anything big for our anniversary as we are trying to save some money. We went to our favorite restaurant the night before (since our anniversary was on a Monday) and I bought him new legal pads (since he's a composer) and CD Labels. He bought me a few love Disney prints and framed them.

We also received a clock, and a whole slew of paper products from both sets of parents. My MIL gave us a paper plate/napkin set for every holiday for the whole year!
