Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

We took ours w/ us when we went away and to our surprise it tasted very good! I was expecting it to taste gross, so it was a pleasant surprise.

BTW- I double ziplocked it and kept a fresh box of Arm and Hammer in the freezer at all times.

Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

One of our guests must have thought it was specially packaged for them....and took it home.

If I could figure out who did that, I'd love to call them up and ask how my cake was.

Glad to hear this!! I'll be having mine this weekend! How long should the cake be left out for it to thaw completely?

Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

Ours was every bit as delicious a year later! The fondant really protected the cake and held in the moisture. I wish I could have a piece now

AND - it also survived a 6 hour plane ride from NY to CA in a cooler! LOL!

Anna, thanks - Actually, my stepdad brought it with him on the plane when he came to visit us 2 weeks after Paul was born. Paul was less than 3 weeks old for our anniversary.

Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

We decided to keep our wedding bliss alive by celebrating our anniversary every month for our first year. So, we decided to slice up our first tier of our wedding cake into 12 pieces for 12 months which we will share a piece to eat each month! Each month we'll keep our wedding bliss alive by reminsicing our special day.

Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

Since my DH and I didn't get to enjoy it during our reception we ate it right after we got home from our HM and it was fantastic! we ate the whole top layer and paid for it later LOL! I don't think I'd want to eat it after a year though! I've heard horror stories!

Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

Mine was in my MOH Freezer the whole year and I guess she didn't notice the big hole in the box!! Me and DH made a pack no matter how bad it was we were going to take just one bite for good luck and yup it was freezer burned like you would not believe because of the hole in the box, but we both choked down that good luck bite!!!

Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

I have to say mine wasn't too good. But I am the type of person who doesn't freeze things that are left over and don't even really like left overs...I like things fresh or else they go in the garbage...so part of it I am sure was in my own head.

I had it wrapped pretty good and the first bite tasted good but after that - it was gross but at least DH agreed and he will eat almost anything.

tina - cute idea - I wished I ate a piece closer to my wedding day - I had heard the cake was really good!

Re: FOR ALL THOSE THAT ATE THEIR 1 YR CAKE.....

We actually ate ours over Thanksgiving weekend when we were visitng my parents in Florida. It was delicious! I was very surprised considereing the road trip it took to get to Florida! My parents had it in their freezer after the wedding, it survived the blackout and then took a two day road trip from NY to Florida in a cooler. It was great. The butercream icing tasted as if it had been made yesterday. Mmmm Mmmmm Good!
