For newlyweds who are still renting

Original post by alina

Do your parents push you towards home/apt. ownership (regardless of your own wishes)?

How do you deal with that?

Also, for those city girls who moved to the suburbs, how is/was the adjustment?

Yea I know. Thats why I say I live in Park Slope. Although it wasnt so long ago that no one knew where that was either.

I lived in the building where Steffys was. So that big grey building (but they painted it pink which looks aweful) on the corner of East 4th and Vanderbuilt.

My father owned the store and knew a lot of the neighborhood people. A lot of people still think his name is Steffy. Hhaahahhah

PS: Sorry alina for taking over your thread :D
But have you looked at Winsor Terrace? Its not cheap but its not as expensive as Park Slope and you can get a very surburban feel without actually leaving the city.

Wow..it is good to know others are dealing with the same situation. Our parents are not pressuring us at all but we are anxious to own something of our own. My DH is more ready for the suburbian house and lawn to mow while i am not ready to leave the subway convenice and overall lifestyle of the city. We know we want to start looking for a condo/coop house but where is like this huge question mark which is a bit overwhelming. We live in long island city in queens which we like...it is one stop from manhattan and lots of little shops and stores are popping up..but there is not much to buy in the area...
thanks for sharing though..now i know i am not alone =)

Stef, we haven't looked there, we're just not ready to buy something yet. So we haven't been looking anywhere. I'll keep it in mind when the time for househunting comes.
