Hi guys. So much drama with buying a place. We cant afford brooklyn anymore but we can afford Forest Hills. What I need to know is, are there bad areas of FH? What is the most desirable area (streets) to live on? Is it all apartments or houses too?? Any websites on Real estate agents and FH info in general would be so helpful to me too. Also we need to be able to get to the city easily because we both work there. Thanks so much Now I will be gone all day but I hope you girls can help me out.

Re: Forest Hills again....who lives there?
We are in contract for a coop in kew gardens (just a few blocks from forest hills border) -
Check out that area too, you actually get A LOT more for your money and you are only a few blocks away. we looked in both areas and fell in love with the apt we ended up buying.
Personally, I would try to stay close to Queens Blvd and the subway lines, it will help with resale because it makes such an easy commute to come home from the city. The LIRR is only a block or so away from the 71st continental stop so its good to have access to both.
Currently we live in Rego Park which is on the other side of FH. Again, its a few blocks away and you can get significant savings (or more space for same price, etc.) So check it out, bad thing with Rego Park is you are on local subway lines so you have to take the R/V and switch for express at Roosevelt. Rego Park isn't as 'nice' as Forest Hills, but they are doing a lot of development in the area.
You really should come and drive around or walk around the area, you can spend a day taking a look at the neighborhood and grab a movie or something to eat on Austin Street.
Great site for apts or houses is mlsli.com that is how we found ours. Also, there are a lot of listings on craigslist. We were looking for a long time in this area - FM me if you have specific questions.
