So, you know how before you are married you imagine all the worst case scenerios? Like, something happening that would be HORRIBLE?!
What was something that happened on your wedding day that before your wedding day you would have thought would have been awful...but ended up so funny?!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
I actually got over pretty quickly the fact that my hair person was a no show on my wedding day....
BUT.... I can't say that I was in any situation like what you described. We did have an 'almost incident' that DH and I still laugh about.
I was initially upset about the dress my mother got to wear to the wedding (I thought it was inappropriate for someone her age). Anyway, my parents are divorced and my father is re-married and has two step-daughters. After my mother got dressed one of my step-sisters looked at my mother and said 'OMG Annette, my mother bought that exact dress in the same color to wear to the wedding, but she decided on something else' Could you imagine??? My mother and my Step-mother in the SAME dress. DH keeps saying he would pay any amount of $$ to have seen that!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
I remember a post a while back about how upset brides would get if someone got engaged at your wedding.
Well, my DH's good friend came up to us on the dance floor and said, 'I don't want to make a big deal about this, but I proposed to my girlfriend today.' He apologized profusely, but he had the ring and she looked so beautiful...and he did it.
At the SAME time, DH and I run to the DJ to tell him so we could announce it and the four of us shared a dance!!!!
A year ago, I said in a post (trying to find it) that I would be SO mad if that happened....but guess what, it was so sweet.
What made me think of it was that he recently called to apologize AGAIN because people gave him a hard time about it...and we feel the complete opposite. Tell them to call us and we'll tell them how happy it made us....
oh my gosh, found my response...check it out.... i'd be mad!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
I was terribly worried that my FMIL would not find a dress in time. 2 weeks before the wedding, I contacted her to find out the color for her corsage. Well, she replied to me, 'Oh, I've just been so busy, I was thinking of going today to look'. She was told whatever as long as it is not orange, green or white. Orange, because that was what my mom wore. Green- because the BM's were wearing green. And white-well, duh!
So she calls me the following week to tell me that she found a dress and that it was green (ummm, helloooo). I asked her to see it, and she replied 'You will see it when you see it'.
Well, fast forward to me in my bridal suite taking pictures before the wedding. My back is to the door, in walks FMIL. I hear gasps from everyone and my BM says 'oh my god, she is wearing the same dress as your mother'. I thought I was going to kill her. My photographer had to kick her out because my anger was ruining my pics.
Looking back, it is kind of funny. But that day, totally NOT OK!!!!!!!!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
Hmm, that is a hard one...The only thing I can think of every bride's nightmare....be SICK on your wedding day!!!
Well that happened to me...No I didn't just have a cold, I had the flu bug that was going around! I got sick the night before my RD!!! I was in bed, vomitting (sorry TMI) & could barely lift my head. DH didn't know what we were going to do if I was like this on our wedding day!
Our wedding day came, I had not eaten in 3 days & was starting to feel better but knew that I was still not right. I went through with it, no problem!!! The only downside was, I was not able to eat at my wedding!!! Luckily FT packed me a few dinners & all the leftover CH food!!!
With not eating, I lost about 5lbs & my dress was big!!! Now I laugh about it...It was the worst thing that could have happened, but when you look at my pictures, you would never know I was sick!!! The show MUST go on!!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
Hmm... lets see. We forgot to button the back of my dress. So all my buttons were undone until I took the veil off after the toasts and one of my BMs was like 'don't you want to do these?' My mom spilled champagne all over the front of her dress right before the ceremony. She was upset at the time, but now she laughs about it. Oh yea and a couple thats been married for 6 months cheated and won the anniversary dance. I was pissed, but was amused at the same time. I did ask to have it taken out of the video though.

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
It RAINED! I pretty much came to terms with the fact that it was going to rain on my wedding day a few days before the wedding. I woke up at 7:30 a.m. the day of and checked the news and the weather channel. Both reported showers all day. That was the last time I even thought about the weather that day. We got to take pictures outside, despite the rain and that was perfect. The rain, humidity, and misting outside didn't stop me one bit from having a good time!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
Our best man's wife called the day before the wedding and said they wouldn't be able to make it because the best man was in the hospital! I felt bad for DH, because his friend wasn't going to be there (and obviously bad for the friend who was sick), but the day went fine and the friend recovered, so now it's more of an anecdote than a tragedy.

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
The only thing I can think of would be that I was stressing over RAIN!! I did not let anyone else see how stressed I was over this because I know it is silly to think that rain could ruin this amazing day. When I woke up the morning of my wedding it was like a freakin monsoon out there! Lol. Oddly enough, it didn't bother me one bit. The whole time I was at the salon getting my hair and makeup done, it was POURING and my poor mom and MOH kept looking at eachother b/c they felt bad and were really surprised at how well I was taking it. By the time the limo arrived at my house, the rain had let up ALOT and sure enough as soon as the ceremony was done....It was all cleared up and we got to take all of the outdoor photos that I loved and had been thinking about since we booked the hall!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
I was obsessive about the number of guests I had coming b/c our room was pretty small and I was afraid of going over. To insure we had the right # I divided the guest list up and invited single friends w/o dates, parents w/o kids -- things I would resent as a guest, but I felt I had to do all this to make sure the room wasn't overfull.
Of course when we got the RSVPs some people who were invited with dates wrote in a date's name and others put in their kids' names. Plus a bunch of people either didn't RSVP or I heard stories from friends/family saying that someone who had RSVPed yes wasn't coming after -- I had to let it go (mostly b/c I was feeling like I was going to have a nervous breakdown), but up until the night before the wedding I was worried that the # of guests I had
Well, day of comes and didn't even notice who was there or who wasn't. Later I found out that a we had a number of no-shows and some guests who hadn't RSVPed yes, but decided to show up anyone (one couple even brought their kids after RSVPing no). And the amazing thing was -- it totally didn't matter. The hall made sure everyone got a seat and from my vantage point as the Bride it just looked like a room full of people having a great time!
Oh, and of course there was a ton of rain too -- which I thought would ruin everything, but now I'm convinced rain on your wedding day is good luck!

Lost my voice big time day of wedding. Barely got my vows out and couldn't talk to any of my guests. In retrospect, it's so funny because I spent the whole reception dancing. Everyone saw me stressing to talk so they just let me be!

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
The night before my wedding, as we were walking out the door to the rehearsal dinner, our officiant called and told us he wasn't going to do our wedding anymore because he was sick This was something that would nirmally have freaked me out, but I don't know why I was so calm. I knew getting upset was not going to fix things. In about 5 minutes before the RD, I emailed the new officiant all of our readings and the outline of the ceremony that I wanted him to do. The next day at the wedding, the ceremony was perfect So it all worked out. When I tell people the story though they are like
One of the GM stepped on my dress as I took a step and my dress kind of had a sash and it ripped off and needed to have it safety pinned back on. We laughed because normally I would have freaked out but on my wedding day I was blissfully happy and just laughed about it.

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
Well I always had a fear of getting my . on my wedding day and sure enough I was blessed with it
We were so tired after the wedding, we undressed and literally collapsed on the bed, we were both out cold...so much for a romantic wedding night.

My bustle broke pretty early on in the night. Everyone commented on how calm I was - I just told the bridal attendant to safety pin it across my @ss so I could return the dance floor!

That happened to me, too! It broke while we were dancing the hora. One of my bridemsiads selflessly held my train and ran behind me so I could dance and when we were done the attendant pined it up and it stayed up for the rest of the reception.

Re: Friday Fun Question - Come On In!
My DH thought it would be funny to shove cake in my face. Without thinking, he came upwards and shoved it into both my nostrils. I got so mad that i took an entire piece of cake and smeared it all over his face. Then my nose began bleeding.
So there I am, covered in cake and bleeding. Then the MC (who I had my back to) announces 'Now Kelly will dance with her father'. I turned around and shot him the worst look ever. Then he saw me. Within a split second he got the crowd up to a dance song to give me time to clean up. I found out that not one guest knew I was bleeding, not even the BMs.
My whole wedding revolved around my flowers. I wanted the exact flowers my husband had given me after we became an item. I dread so badly that they would not be what I wanted.
Dont you know ? Florist messed it up.. BAD Honestly Im still a bit pissed about that (ok more than a bit) but I was doing my pictures so you see me beaming for joy. Only the photographer knew. He said I bounced back very quickly.
My candles for the voltives.. well. I worried so much that all the wedding stuff would be at the hall... hehe I forgot the candles. We show up all dressed and ready to go and the hall director comes out and says 'Did you bring the candles?' I was like 'Uhmmm no, dont you have them?' MIND YOU this was a MORNING wedding. Without a beat I said 'Oh well, go buy some' He smiles and sent off his assistant. 8am.. they folks went to MACY's to buy me candles!!! no charge! unbelievable. Later James (the guy in charge) Said 'Most brides who have flipped'
AND FINALLY One of my husband's older relatives walks in during the middle of my ceremony and proceeds to fall flat on her a$$. Jim and I are looking into eachothers eyes and the clergy is saying something then... *BAM*!!! Scary as hell but we laugh about that one now.
my motto the day of the wedding 'I paid too much money not to just let it go and enjoy myself, no matter how messed up things get'
