From the highest high to a pretty low low...

Original post by MrsDrinkh20

Ladies, I could use a little support from anyone who has any experience at all with this. My parents told me Friday that they went to their lawyer and are getting a divorce. I can't say that I am in shock as they have been miserable for as long as I can remember. I just am so concerned about it because I dont think either of them will be able to live on their own. They are in a pretty bad financial place right now (and it's totally my dad's fault.) He decided he is moving to florida because it is cheaper there and they are selling the house. My mom is only a secretary and I am afraid that she won't be able to find a place on her own. I know it is for the best, but I am so angry and scared for my mom. I just keep thinking 'What will i do around the holidays?' or as much as I dont really like my dad (i love him obviously because he is my father) what happens if he gets sick and we are in NY and he is in Florida? (he is 68...not like he is getting younger.) Ugh this *****. I just needed to vent i think since I can't tell any of my 'non-internet' friends of family at my parents request. Thanks ladies

Oh sorry you are going through this - my parents split when I was in high school and it was rough for a while but they are both soooo much happier now. . I guess it's a little different bc they were younger and who knows what life will bring. . but she was def in a rougher financial spot when they split but eventually changed things around. . again I know no situations are the same and it doesnt make yours ANY easier. .. hugs to you and sorry your family (and you) are going through this. ..

I'm so sorry Lauren. Regardless of how much a divorce may or may not be the right thing, it's always hard. We're here if you need to talk.

Love you...

I know what you are going through. My parents 'separated' plenty of times, however never went through with the divorce...

My mom is a secretary as well and I remember thinking to myself 'OMG my mom is going to be on her own what is she going to do shes going to over work herself'

But, hun... honestly... she has her family- you and your sister... and you will always be there for her.

Its a hard time right now, and its scary for all involved... but just know, you are never alone...<3

So sorry to hear you are going through this. I do not have any experience with divorce, but I can offer

I do understand your concern with your dad moving to FL. My parents moved there 5 years ago and I miss them tons. Unfortunately it's where they want to be, and I am getting more concerned because they are getting older and wish they were closer.

Hang in there and I will pray for the best for you and your family.

Sorry to hear this..I don't have experience exactly, only as the child of a second marriage, but I know that it definitely starts to harbor resentment from seeing issues with my (half) sister throughout the year. So sorry.
