Any suggestions? We have friends coming from out of town tomorrow and want to go somewhere yummy (but NOT too $$$) and fun, with good margaritas! I found a place called Maracas online which looks like it fits the description...anyone been there? Thanks for any reviews/suggestions!
PS - we'd rather stay midtown or downtown, so preferably nowhere too far up...

There is Calico Jack's on 42nd street and 2nd avenue right on the corner. IT does get very packed for happy hour, in the summer theres even people all in front bc they have seats outside and gets crowded. BUT it is a great atmosphere to hang out at bc alot of people go to hang out and have drinks.
Theres also Rosa mexicano or dos caminos

Oh I think my friends and I used to go to Calico Jacks when I lived in Hoboken. Does it turn into like a bar/clubbish type place at night? I remember being at a place called Calico Jacks and my friend dancing on the bar lol, but it may have been a different place with the same name... if it IS the same place, we used to have a LOT of fun there.

YES sounds like the place lol. ALOT of people do go after work and then at night gets even more crowded and alot of ppl hanging out at the bar. And yes it does end up getting alot, it is a fun atmosphere.

Mamma Mexico is so fun! They have a mariachi band going around the restaurant too! It's just off 3rd Ave on 50th I think. Check online for sure. It's between 2nd and 3rd but closer to 3rd. The food is delicious!

We went to El Rio Grande in Manhattan for a friend's birthday and it was so much fun! The food was amazing and the margaritas...they were even more amazing. I was drunk off one and half. I had the blood orange frozen one. Awesome! Here's the link: El Rio Grande

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, I did not get to check LIW at all yesterday, so I didn't get to see most of these suggestions. We ended up going to Maracas, which is on Greenwich Ave. It was pretty good, but I wish I could have tried some of these suggestions instead. Thanks!
