Well, we may be a bit too slow for a question of the day, but how about the week (or weekend now!).
What is one thing you got as a gift or had done TO you that you WOULD or WOULD NOT do to another bride...???

Re: Fun NewlyWed Question Of The Week....
Ok, here is mine.
What I wouldn't do: I got the basket of candles. It was really cute at the shower, but I lost the poem, don't know what each candle means, it's a HUGE basket and it's taking up space. Although it was really cute, I wouldn't do it again. (And I did it for my MOH's shower!).
What I would do: I also got the whole poem where you get the soap and asprin and joy and all that. Now...I would do that (or something even funnier) cause I've USED those products (I got so many things of laundry liquid!)

For my shower, I got the 'Bride's Tree', which is 12 Christmas ornaments that each mean something different. It is believed that a couple's Christmas tree needs these twelve specific ornaments for happiness in their life journey together. It was by far my most favorite gift!!! I have done it for one of my engaged friends so far and she absolutely loved it too!!!! I think its a special, thoughtful gift to give and receive!!

Re: Fun NewlyWed Question Of The Week....
one of our guests handstitched our invite and framed it. If I had any talent, I'd do that for someone else.
What I wouldn't do: Our BM from hell gave us a decorated photo album. But, the album is dark tan and she put white silk flowers on it and then on the inside used these gold bubble sticker letters and wrote 'Sue and Johnny's wedding' but, as she was putting the stickers on the pages, the red nail polish from her nails made red rub marks all over the page

Re: Fun NewlyWed Question Of The Week....
My Favorites: My MOH asked everyone at my shower to bring a recipe AND an ingredient for the recipe (spice, marinade, etc) then she put all of the recipes in a book and all of the spices in a decorative basket with the person's name and the recipe it was for. It was great because I've often not made a dish if I don't have an unusual ingredient.
Also at my shower, she handed out blank cards and asked everyone ther to write us a first anniversary card. She then collected them and will mail them to me right before our anniversary in July.
My least favorite: The bounced check from my cousin. Bad enough he didn't give a gift but on top of the charge of feeding him he charged me an additional $20 bounced check fee... what an A Z Z Oh, and when I called him on it... if you know the other crap he's pulled you would do it too... he said he sent another one... WHAT by Pony Express?

I got personalized towels, which in theory I love, but she chose a color without asking us and it doesn't match our bathroom so we never use them.

Re: Fun NewlyWed Question Of The Week....
my sister had 50 little cards in a small box and she asked everyone at my shower to fill one out with nice thoughts for us. Then she randomly put them into envelopes and labeled them for the years 2005-2055...so that each year on our anniversary, we have a little card with some nice thoughts on it to open up! I thought it was such a sweet idea - I loved it!

I WOULD NOT buy a couple a present that is/was not on their registry
I have so many ugly picture frames now !!!
I WOULD (and have already) sent copies of my digital pictures that I took at other's weddings so that they have pics by the time they come back form their honeymoon
My DH's aunt took tons of pics and ordered them from Snapfish and had them mailed directly to us. We had pictures to show off to co-workers and friends as soon as we got back from Aruba.

I second that. Hellooo. We registered for a reason people. It's a dummy-proof way to give us the perfect gift.
I have so many pics from peoples digital camera's that they either emailed me thru snapfish of made copies of cd's. You can never have enough pics.

My FMIL stole a cart from CVS and filled it up with all different stuff. Such as soap, paper towels, mac & cheese, mayo, mustard, etc. I love it and was a great start to our pantry.

Re: Fun NewlyWed Question Of The Week....
Would do: Take polaroids of the wedding and send the bride and groom off with an instant mini photo album of their day.
Wouldn't do: ***** and moan about it being my birthday that the couple is getting married on. I'm birthday queen, and I love being the center of attention, but there are levels to good taste.

Re: Fun NewlyWed Question Of The Week....
Um, I would NOT give the bride lingerie when she specifically asked that no one get that for her. And if she DID want it, I'd get a gift receipt and ask her what size she wears.

Re: Fun NewlyWed Question Of The Week....
I have to second the person who said when buying gifts get something from the registry.
But I will also add to that thought, if you are not getting a registry gift, at least give something from a national store and not your local crafty gift shop. You might think that the thing is fantastic, but I don't and I don't live in Massachusetts either. We received a menorah that looks like you light the persons fingers on fire with candles. It is really ugly.

Bride’s Christmas Tree A lovely tradition from Germany is the “Bride's Tree”. It is believed that a couple's Christmas tree needs twelve specific ornaments for happiness in their life journey together. The twelve ornaments & what they symbolize are:
Fish ~ Represents Christ's blessing Teapot ~ Represents hospitality Bird ~ Symbolizes joy & happiness Angel ~ Symbol of God’s guidance Rabbit ~ Reflects hope & peace with nature Fruit ~ Symbolizes generosity & plenty Heart ~ Symbol of true love & love in the home Pine Cone ~ Represents fruitfulness, eternity, motherhood & fertility Flowers ~ Symbol of good wishes & beauty in the home Rose ~ Symbol of beauty & affection House ~ Represents protection & family shelter Santa ~ Symbol of goodwill, giving & sharing
