I personally don't have any experience with that but wanted to give you for having to deal with that! maybe surgery is the best option, cuz i know that its really painful to pass stones.

Re: gall stones

I had my gall bladder out when I was 15 years old. Really, really young but it seems that every female in my family has gall bladder issues and has it removed.

Gall bladder attacks are beyond painful/horrible. I had two and then said they could take it out. If you're not inflamed, you can have it done laparoscopically. That means you'll have 4 tiny incisions, be filled with gas and they'll do it through the incisions with instruments. I had it done that way and the recovery really isn't bad. It's outpatient and you're 100% within about a week and a half to two weeks.
If you're inflamed, they'll do a full incision which is more painful and a longer recovery time. Both options aren't awful and both are better than gall bladder attacks/gall stones.

For now, cut back on fat and drink lots of water. I would go ahead with the surgery now rather than later. If you wait, you might get a stone caught in the duct and then have to have emergency surgery where the big incision is your only option.

If you do have the surgery, you might have some digestive issues after. If that's the case, take Caltrate with vitamin D. It acts as a binder and prevents running to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

FM me if you have any questions and try to feel better soon!

My mom had hers removed before I was born. My friend had hers removed a month after she had her daughter. She had developed something that got her gall bladder active and there were so many things she couldn't eat because she would just get sick. Not a big deal to have it removed. It's a really common procedure (especially since our body doesn't use this organ).

Just so she knows, your body does use the organ. It people wher it is functioning normally, it dumps bile into your stomach. When you don't have a hall bladder, bile is dumped 24/7. To be graphic, if I don't eat right when I get up, the bile goes right through my intestines and I spend the AM in the bathroom. This has gotten better over time. It did for my mom too!

Again, FM me if you have ?s!

I had my gall bladder out 6 years ago...its no big deal. If the gall bladder is not inflamed you get it taken out laproscopic (however its spelt). I was in surgery on a Friday morning and out the following morning.....only took advil for pain and was driving a few days later only due to being totally put under and having those meds ware off. Honestly the gall bladder attacks are much worse then any pain from the surgery. If the doctor says take it out then just do it because the gall stones can actually move to your pancreas and then cause major problems.

I have never heard of passing a gall stone...but yes a kidney stone is painful to pass from what i have heard from my dad and others.

Re: gall stones

I have gall stones and the surgeon said i need to take my gall bladder out. I was so scared i told him i want to go home and think about it. Over the weekend i was in so much pain. I come to terms with myself that now i just have to get them out. I called this morning to make an appt. for the surgery. I never had surgery before and i guess this is why its so hard for me. He said the surgery takes about a 45 mins-1hour. I should be going home the same day. I am nervous. Is there any side effects from this surgery?
