I am getting all four pulled at once. Thank God they are sedating me.
I am petrified because I hate dentists and oral surgeons
Any words of wisdom so I can minimize suffering?

I had mine pulled last year. And it was pretty uncomfortable. Just make sure you ice your face A LOT. I got lazy with it so my face blew up a little. Dont drink through a straw that could cause problems. Also, make sure you have some Advil in the house. The doc prescribed me Tylenol with Codeine and it really ****** IMO. The Advil worked better! Im not gonna lie, it hurts and its a really annoying uncomfortable pain but it doesnt last long and you will be so happy you got it over with.
Are they putting you to sleep?

I had all 4 pulled at once also. For me the anticipation of it was worse than the actual surgery. You will be fine...as long as you are under sedation you wont even know whats going on. You'll wake up and it will be done.

Good for you! I was awake and it was horrible hearing everything going on and I still felt all the pressure for the pulling. Seriously it was disturbing. I think that made it worse for me.
My dentist said it was okay for me to eat a few hours after. I stocked up on soups and mashed potatoes. I was happy I had a reason not to eat like a pig!

plenty of advil...cuz if it wont hurt during, waiting on line at the pharmacy for drugs might.
bring an ipod & play whatever crap makes you laugh.
bugs bunny helped me through some tough pulls.

If they are sedating you you have nothing to worry about~I promise!
Buy soft foods, yogurt, jello, etc. Nothing with chunks that you would have to chew or small peices b/c they will get stuck in your stitches.
They prescribed me vicodin for the pain and I didnt feel a single spot of pain for the 3 days it tooks to close up.

I was sedated also!! The pain kicked in 2 hrs later but I used the codine and it made it alot better

oh right, you'll be sedated. whatchu worried 'bout? the only thing you have to fear is the after pain....get the drugs with the quickness.

Don't stress! You will be out & not remember a thing...and they will give you some good painkillers for after...just have mushy food for later and the next few days like oatmeal, applesauce & yogurt so you don't starve...good luck and let me know if you need anything!!!!!

You will be fine. Compared to all the things you have gone through this year getting a few teeth out should be a breeze. I have never had it done but my dh just had his pulled and although it was a bit painful after he said it wasn't too bad.

I had all 4 of mine pulled about 4 years ago. I was really nervous too but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Once I came to in the office, I went home and then the pain didn't really kick in till about 3 hours later. But he gave me Vicodin and it definitly helped. Just make sure you ask for the syringes with the curved tip on them. You can use them to shoot water into the holes in case you get any food particles stuck in there. They really helped alot. if they give you vicodin, take it on a full stomach or with a glass of milk... it can make you nausous if you dont
i had all mine pulled at once also & the actual procedure isnt bad at all.. mainly b/c for you, it seems like 5 minutes long
i think everyone is different... my brother was able to go back to work the next day, me - i was out for 3 days.... so it all depends on how fast you recover from things OH and this probably sounds weird... but buy baby food! the fruits are soooooo yummmmmy!!!!!!!!!!! i ate so much baby food when i got my wisdom teeth pulled!!!

Oh, man, that suckks! I had SEVEN teeth pulled before I got my braces on when I was a kid. It wasn't fun at all.

Mich you will be fine dont worry...i had all three pulled out at once and it took me about a week to heal. The day after youll be really swollen so just keep putting ice on your face!

I had 1 pulled with just novacaine. It was bad. I almost wished I just went to sleep. You will wake up and feel as if you've only slept a few moments.
The anticipation is definitely worse. NO STRAWS! No spicy food..
I have to go get another one pulled, and I am DEFINITELY going to an oral surgeon so I can go to sleep the *right* way!

It really depends on how impacted they are and if they are infected or not. I had half of mine pulled, on my left side. I know I have to get the right ones pulled too. Its really not so bad. The top was really easy, the bottom was a little of b*tch, but you'll be fine. Don't stress yourself out about this.

I hate the dentist too but it will be a piece of cake if you have a good surgeon. I had 3 pulled at one time, i didnt go under and I didnt feel a thing. Good Luck
