getting past the hurts..

dunno about you guys...but let me know if I am way off the mark here.
I am still hurting about the family memebers who didnt come to my wedding. AS you porb know, my parents are deceased...so that made the planning our happy day very very sad at times as I wished I coudl share it with them. I had been hoping that my godparents would be at the wedding, even hoping to have them light the untiy candles with us in memory of my parents- but neither one attended. My Godfather didn't even call or wirte to explain- only a ckmark. Imagine that.
Other family- from NJ did not attend...and I was told a few days b4 the rsvp. in fact, my 2 little cousins were unable to be part of the wedding party....

Hi Phyl
That is so horrible what happened. I know family can be screwy but that is just so wrong. Do you get along well with your inlaws and your husbands family? I would try to enjoy your time with them. I know it is hard though.
My whole fathers side of the family haven't been much of a family at all since I was young and my father was diagnosed with M.S. You always figure family should be there but I learned that sometimes friends are just as valuable or more.

what we are thinking

is to give them a chance. Actually it is my husbands idea. Write up an invite for a housewarming and give them THREE dates to choose from in Oct.
This way the kiddies religious instructions or Dr's appt cannot be all 3 of those dates. If after bending over backwards like this., to have them over and in our lives, ...will be the real telling point as to where we stand.
If they are unable to come on three separate dates, then I will, have 'killed' them with our kindess...and say I guess we are Christmas card cousins after all.
