Original post by janwinterbridejoy

i just need to know someone from outside my familys opinion on the topic of wedding gifts. i was married in jan and received many generous gifts. but there were a few who gave me like 100 dollars for 2 people. i wouldnt have even given it a second thought if it was from someone that couldnt afford more. but here is the question one of the couples is also getting married this year!!!! what gift do i give them? my friends say give what i received but i cant do that i would feel embarrassed. the guy is a close friend and ex partner of my D.H. what do i do? P.s There having it at a less expensive place then mine. dont think im Beotch!!!

Im going to sound like a really bad person, but if it were someone who could definately do more..Id give em right back whatt they gave me. I know that sounds horrible, but I had a few people stiff us, not even a card and I just am at a loss, they are Dh's friends, who brought dates, and I just dont see how if they were getting married, we would give what we would normally give. I know two wrongs dont make a right..but its how I feel in these circumstances.

Before I got married I would have said give what you normally give but now I say give what you got. I don't think anything is wrong with that. Obviously they think that is an appropriate wedding gift or they wouldn't have given it to you. You can give slighly more if it makes you feel better but don't go crazy. Why give them double or triple what they gave you.
