Re: Girls, I'm sorry but I think we need THIS post...Looking back...
I haven't teared up like this since our wedding day. I love reading all your wonderful moments, it seems like we all have a lot of them in common!
1. My mother (who is not an overly emotional woman), the morning of the wedding, telling me how proud and happy she was that I asked her to be my Matron of Honor and that I stayed at her house the night before.
2. The look on my father's face when he saw me all dolled up for the first time.
3. When my husband (just LOVE saying that!) saw me for the first time before the ceremony for pictures, he almost stumbled when he turned because he was so taken aback by how I looked. He said, 'WOW, you look GORGEOUS!'.
4. Seeing my 7 nieces and nephews, my wedding party, all dressed up, looking perfect and having a great time. My 5 year old nephew Anthony said, 'Aunt Tiesha, you look like a princess!'
5. When I walked into the ceremony room with my father and saw the room was packed with people. With the exception of 3 couples, every person invited came to the ceremony. That was so touching to me.
6. Our niece sang a song to us during the ceremony and I teared up (and I'm tearing now) because she did so wonderful. I was so very proud of her. And all my guests gave her thunderous applause, which swelled my heart, because she worked so hard with my piano player/DJ to get it perfect. I wanted to make sure she knew how great she was, by people other than her immediate family who are her biggest fans. Even the photographer gave my sister a business card of his friend who is a singing agent.
7. When we said our vows to each other, and I looked into the eyes of the wonderful man I get to spend the rest of my life with. I found a new peace within myself that I didn't know I would have, saying those words.
8. Being introduced at the reception, my sister told our nieces and nephews to behave when they walked in. I waited until she was out of earshot and then told them all that I wanted them to GO CRAZY! And they listened to me.
9. During one of our dances, our nieces and nephews held hands and skipped a circle around us. I can't wait to see that picture, it was such a non-planned thing and one I cherished.
10. Standing with my husband, taking in the whole room and all the people laughing, dancing, having a great time. Someone here gave that as advice, to do that frequently during the reception, because it goes so fast. She was so right.
11. Finding out that two members of my family that were estranged from each other made a sort of peace that day. So much so, they were both invited to a party a week later, and both attended where before one would say, 'If so-and-so is going, then I'm not.' It may be a new beginning for them. Even if it isn't, I'm glad they both but their differences aside for us that day.
I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting so far. I'm glad we're going to write this down, scrapbook it, have photographs and videos of it. Because it was the best day of our lives.
