It's total crap. Cablevision's side is totally false as every network accepted the agreement and Cable was the only one who did not agree????? Plus, Cable has been difficult for a YEAR now. They had a take it or leave it approach with no room for negotiation.

We are switching to Fios.

I wrote a letter to Mr Dolan himself to his PERSONAL email!

Here it is:

Dear Mr. Dolan,

I am incredibly saddened by the removal of my all time favorite channels. I really do not understand this. I Googled the information regarding Scripps and Cablevision making an agreement and it seems that Cablevision was the one who made the decision NOT to keep these channels. As of now, many are outraged including myself. Remember, as a business owner- it is essential to keep customers happy- not worry about what sports teams should be acquired next and what newspaper you should control. Your business was cable first. And if bad decisions are constantly being made, your primary business will diminish fast.

Because of this and the rate increase, I am my changing my service to Fios first thing tomorrow.

Sincerely Yours,
Michele

I dunno who to believe!?!?!!?!?!
But I have heard such horror stories about Fios bills and contracts that I think I'll just have to deal w/o the channels. Oh wells.

This is common practice in the television industry. Negotiations occur at all times throughout the year and most of the time the viewers never know about anything because the negotiations are fair and contracts get extended. As you may recall seeing all of the ads from Time Warner and Fox over the holidays, that was the same situation. Fox ended up extendeding their contract through 1/15/10 with Time Warner and now they have settled on an agreement. Fox actually had more to loose then Time Warner because of Football and the College Bowl Games.

As for the Scripps and Cablevision fiasco. There are three sides to every story and you can choose which to believe. But as a person who works in the industry the rate increase that Scripps is asking for is unreasonable. Should Cablevision bow down to Scripps? If they do then in a few months when another Networks contract is up Cablevision is going to be expected to bow down to them too. I am not defending either company but I am just saying to look at the bigger picture. Change to Fios or Dish or Direct TV....but remember...there was a reason you were a cablevision customer to begin with. This stand-off isn't going to continue for much longer and will be resolved sooner than you think.

I am a huge fan of HGTV and Food Network and I am really disappointed that an agreement could not be met. Waking up on Saturday and Sunday morning of this past weekend and not having my HGTV S u cked!!

I have FIOS. There is a contract but if you want to switch back to CV then CV has offered to pay the fee. The bills.....there are no hidden fees just the normal taxes.

Thank you for this! This is good to know. We are Cablevision customers and will never switch to Fios. I had a close friend who worked high level at Cablevision, and I know the facts about up/down time and I would never switch. My internet speed and capabilities are too important to me. But Food Network is my NUMBER ONE FAVORITE CHANNEL!!! This is TORTURE!!!!

We have FIOS. I like it, but one thing I loved about Cablevision is that you could have TVs without boxes. At my parents house we had 5 TVs that did not have boxes. You get limited channels on them and it seems that the line up is getting smaller and smaller, but you do get some programming on a TV without an additional monthly fee. DH just bought me a TV for the kitchen and now we have to get another box, upping our monthly fees.
