Girls who went to Greece on their HMs

DH and I are going to start seriously thinking of our real HM within the next 2 weeks or so, and we plan on going to Crete, Santorini, the countryside for a day or so, and ending in Athens.

Athens we already know the hotel we'll be staying at, and the countryside will be with family, but we could use recommendations for Crete and Santorini. I researched the Blue Palace and Mystique I think the names were, and liked those a lot, but if anyone else has had good experiences on Crete or Santorini I'd like to hear them. We'd probably want to stay in Oia in Santorini over Fira.

This is where we stayed in Santorini. Family owned and operated and when we told them we were on our honeymoon we got a free bottle of champagne and a home cooked dinner.
They even let us use their phone, no charge, for 4 hours (international) when we had a problem with our flight out.

I didn't go on my HM but when we went to Santorini we stayed at the Astra Apartments.

We stayed at the Tzekos Villas...I wouldn't stay there again. WHEN (not if) we go back I'm staying at Katikies.

Other ones that are supposed to be nice are On the Rocks, Mystique, Tsitouras, The Majestic

I didn't go to Crete so I got nothin there....HAVE FUN!

PS We stayed at the King George in Athens and it was amazing!

We stayed in Oia at katikies - we were going to stay at Mystique but they sold out - we like katikies - rooms were slightly small but right in the middle of things and had breakfast delivered to your room every morning - their pool area was small - felt a little cramped. . we also stayed at another property run by the same hotel for two nights - it is about 10 minutes outside of Oia but they gave us a car - I think it was called the san antonio - advantages - it was much bigger, the rooms, pool, everything (but still a small hotel) and had insane views of the water, a great little restaurant, better breakfast, disadvantage is you do need to have a car and can't just walk into town. . super short drive but still a drive. . both places had great service. and the car was nice because we ended up driving down to a bunch of other beaches and things..

LOVED Santorini. REALLY disliked Athens though.

Santorini was fun. We rented a car in Fira for 30 Euros for the day and then drove to Oia which was the most beautiful place ever. We just walked around and visited shops and had lunch. It was just amazing- all the scenery and the marble and churches. I LOVED it so much. DH and I are planning to go to Santorini to just stay in Oia and just RELAX. I suggest staying in Oia as it is gorgeous. I have no hotel suggestions as DH and I stayed on a cruise.

Oh we also did a day cruise on a catamarand from santorini and it was so worth it - to be out on the water, met some really nice couples and had a nice meal and a few drinks - that was really fun and one of our favorite days. . and so many good restaurants in santorini - def eat down by the dock/water one night - make a reservation for sunset or just show up early - you will love the whole place I hope!
