Guests who dont give gifts..

Original post by Lastminute

Hi,

How do you handle your thank yous for guests who attended the wedding and havent bought you a gift - I know its not about the gift etc etc.....but do I just send a thank you for sharing our day card?

Yes, it happens.

I would still send a TY saying 'thanks for sharing in our day' or something like that. I don't think it sounds like you are fishing for a gift at all.

I agree with this.

For guests (3 out of 130) who couldn't even get themselves to a 1/2 off card store to get us a card for a $1.25 let alone a gift I sent nothing. My thank you was the open bar, 4 course meal and entertainment they received at the wedding That's sounds so cynical but DH and I were hurt by this.

OK, so if the no-gift guests get TYs and the no-shows who gave gifts get TYs, what do the no-show, no gift people get (besides an icy glare the next time I see them)? Shall I draft a note:

Dear ****,
Thank you so much for responding yes to our wedding. DH and I were looking forward to sharing our special day with you. We reserved a seat for you at a less crowded table, so you could sit with your sister and close friends. Had we known you weren't coming, we could have reshuffled the table arrangements and saved money on CPs as well as YOUR PLATE.
We look forward to seeing you at our mutual friend's shower next week.
love,
lilac

Sounds good to me.

I know this is crazy, but you will ALWAYS remember what these people did. And, when it's their turn for a gift, you can either not give one at all, or choose to put a $5 bill in the card.
