Hand Gestures

Original post by MSeed

Ok, so I was driving to work this morning and I cut someone off. (I've felt bad about it all morning). I don't know if she was going faster then I thought or if my car just didn't move as quickly as I wanted it to. But, after I cut her off she honked and did hand gestures. So I said sorry and waved my hands....which now that I think about it, she could have thought I was yelling back at her.

After a few blocks she cut me off and when we stopped at a light continued with her hand movements....I did nothing.

So, my question is.....what is the proper hand gesture to apologize when you screw up on the road?

Sometimes I do that and laugh hard so they know I am laughing at them.

One time I was behind a guy at a light, and he had a truck, I couldn't see in front of him. The light turned green, so I beeped him. Apparently someone was either crossing the road, or there was a car in front of him that couldn't go b/c of traffic. He flipped out and threw his hands in the air and all sorts of crap. I just sat there and laughed my @$$ off. Then he pulled up next to me down the road and I was still laughing at him and did the same hand gestures he did to make fun of him lol

I'll tell you girls a story and hopefully you don't think badly of me or my family

My Dad is VERY conservative. He and my mom both have American flags on their cars, but my dad flies his upside down, which typically means you're in distress.

Well, the other night, he was on the LIE driving home from my house, and this guy pulled up next to him and started beeping at him. Then, he pulled behind him and was on his tail beeping and clearly following him! My dad was gonna get off the LIE near where the police station is, but he missed the exit. He wasn't stupid enough to drive to our house, so he got off at 110 and pulled into the Kohl's shopping center lot. This guy gets out of his car and starts screaming at my dad and threatening him to either flip it the right way or take it down altogether. The guy was like, 'I have a kid in Iraq right now!' My Dad was genuinely like, 'Oh wow, well please thank him for me,' and he went on to try and explain and the guy cuts him off and was like, 'I don't want to hear any of your political BS, just take it down!' So, my dad did, of course but then he did go to the cops to report it. If this guy was behind my dad for that long, he most def knew my dad's license plate (and it's a vanity plate too so it's easy to remember) and God knows what else he might have done. My dad felt better knowing the police had it on record.

My mom and I both read my dad the riot act for even getting out of the car! This guy could've had a knife or gun! You really never know these days!

wow Marissa! That's some story. How do people have THAT much time on their hands? I would never FOLLOW somebody no matter what the issue. He is in serious need of a life. I'm with you tho - i would have never gotten out of the car. That guy could have been psycho. I wish he would have gone to the police before the shopping center. I'm glad your dad did go eventually tho.

for the most part I dont apologize for cutting someone off. The reason they get cut off is b/c they wont let me in. It actually usually makes me happy to see them get mad!!

Some guy honked at me, because i wouldnt merge into oncoming traffic, There was a bus coming and i didnt feel like getting killed.

Well he honked and flipped out cut around me and raced ahead of me almost killing himself. As he was doing this i was flipping out in my car, and yelling through my rear view mirror and giving the finger to him.

Well i finally have the all clear and there is a red light up ahead and he is right there, and i look over and i have my window rolled up but i mouthed to him wow look where it got you.

Well this guy flipped out, he blocked me in on merrick road in merrick, so i could not go striaght, i was in the left lane. And got out of his car and was trying to get me out of hte car, I have never in my life been so scared, if he had a gun i would be dead right now.

He was a normal looking guy in a dress shirt and slacks

I really do find it humorous. Pissy people who speed up so that you cant get in and then throw a fit b/c you did it anyway.

I always let people in!!

Holy crap, Marisa and TheFutureMrsM!!!!!

Bawllsssss

Yesterday I had to drop something off at another office that is right off of the GCP.

I get back on the GCP and if some of you know where the CIP exit is, and you want to get onto the GCP there is a long line of cars always waiting to get onto the GCP from the Cross Island Parkway. There was only one lane, and it wasn't like I was cutting anyone off, I just had no where else to go.

I inch my way over and the guy next to me /behind me starts to speed up!!! I was like WTH?? There was plenty of room to let me get in, and he had to be a D!CK. After I got in the lane, he almost went around me to the left into the rail. It's like seriously....I am in the lane, no need to be a D!ck anymore. Such an @$$!!!

Everyone ***** at driving except us lol

In an event like that you should always remember to get their license plate no matter what. You should have reported him for assault. I bet that jerk would not have picked that fight with a man.
