Re: has anyone ever made alfredo sauce from scratch?!
Yes, it's just Heavy Cream, Butter and Parm Cheese. For one box of Fettuccine it's: 3/4 of a small container or Heavy Whipping Cream 1 Stick of Butter 1 Cup of Parm Cheese
Melt butter in saucepan then mix the rest of the ingredients together. Mix until well blended. You have to toss with the pasta immediately bc alfredo tends to separate.

I have...my DH makes a really good one! I can not remember the exact measurements. I know he uses heavy cream, butter, grated cheese. He made a quick one last week for me when he didn't feel well. How soon do you need it? ETA: Nevermind...she beat me to it.

I think the whole allure of alfredo is the cheese flavor. Maybe sprinkle some oregano on after if you wish, but, parsley and oregano are more red sauce spices IMO.

I agree. I think the cheese is what really makes it too!

Re: has anyone ever made alfredo sauce from scratch?!
Everytime my mom makes it from scratch, it's never saucy enough for me! If I am going to indulge in something like this, I want to be able to see my pasta floating around in the sauce lol That is just how I like it. I don't know if I have to double the recipe or not, but it never comes out saucy enough for me when I make it from scratch.

Ooh, see I don't like when my alfredo is to 'soupy'. I like it cheesy! (edited for typo)

You are italian, you probably make it the right way lol It probably shouldn't be soupy lol
I just happen to want to drink the sauce by the gallon hahah
Olive Garden makes the best sauce I have ever had at a restaurant. I usually get it and dip the bread sticks in it :(
And that is why I can't lose weight lol

My recipe prolly wouldn't be saucy enough for you then. It's def cheesy though. If you want to make it the way you like it, I would use the whole small container of Whipping Cream, 1 stick of Butter and maybe like 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 cup of cheese.

Agreed! lol You can't expect something from a jar or package to be just as good as a true italian would make it.
However, my mom is polish, dating an italian, and he said she makes the best sauceh he has ever had. She called me b/c she was so happy haha

That's what I said. She is a pollack who makes the best latkes, pasta sauce, corned beef brisket and other foods you would never expect a pollack to know how to make so well lol :)
