Are you ladies going to get your dress preserved? I want to do it but I am not sure if I am going to go with David's Bridal (where I got my dress) or another place.

Re: Have you gotten your dress preserved yet?
I used my bridal salon, Paradise Bridals in Patchogue. They send it out and you get it back in the story book box that has a window so you can actually see the dress (they put in on a maidenform). I also put my veil, shoes and garters in it. I think it was $125. HTH!

I used a local dry cleaners. They send it out to this company in NJ. It is in a box and you can see the dress.

I brought mine to the cleaners. But I have a question..should it be in an airtight box? they didn't do that

maybe they just cleaned it and didn't preserve it? It's supposed to be in an air tight box, to prevent it from turning yellow. I would call them and ask what they charged you for.

I'm donating my dress, not preserving it. It's going to a nonprofit, where they auction off the dress and give the money to breast cancer charities.
I won't ever wear it again, and I doubt that if I had a daughter she would (my mother's wouldn't fit and was very 70s--I'm sure my daughter would think the same thing about mine).

I would call around to some bridal salons. I can't remember the name of the company that Paradise Bridals uses. Maybe call them and ask the name of the company and then look them up online.

I went to star cleaners in Rockville Centre. $200 for cleaning, preservation and fixing a small stitch in the arm...came in a nice box that opens to a clear panel...and that box was in a burlap / canvas zippered bag with handle.

I sent mine out a week after the wedding and just picked it up this week. Its looks fantastic!
I did it the next day - big mistake should of waited till the next week. I am thinking I am going to take the damn thing out of the box and wear it again.

I know I have to do this, but I keep forgetting.... It's still in the garment bag on a hanger in my closet.

I'm pretty sure that your gown is NOT supposed to be in an air tight box because your dress needs to breath. Your cleaner will probably send it out to get it preserved. It will come in a box with a window. My MIL preserved her gown the same way 40 years ago and it's still in great condition so no worries.

I want to do it, just haven't done it yet. Is there a time frame as to when is the best time to get it preserved? If I wait until summer, which will be our one year anniversary, is that waiting too long???

Re: Have you gotten your dress preserved yet?
I haven't had my dress preserved yet - it's hanging on my closet door in a garment bag. I know I have to get moving on that but it just keeps falling to the bottom of my list.
