Help!! Does this sound pretty or corny??
I am trying to come up with what to write in the thank you cards. How does this sound??Dear XXX
Thank you very much for the generous gift.
We are truly happy that you were able to celebrate our wedding with us.
Thank you for all your good wishes and for giving us wonderful memeories to cherish forever.
Love,
Michael & Jaime
How does that sound? Corny? Good? Any suggestions if you don't like it would be much appreciated. I seem to be brain dead.
Thanks!!
Jaime( the totally stressing ex-bride)

Re: Help!! Does this sound pretty or corny??
The advice I followed when I wrote mine was to personalize it a bit more. Other than that, it sounds very good.If it was an actual gift you should mention it, ie: Thank you very much for the place settings of my formal china. We would love to have you over to share a meal once we're settled.
If it's cash or check, you can go with the 'generous gift', but you may want to suggest how you'll use it, ie: We're adding it to our home-buying fund, or we plan to use it to complete our china, furnish our living room, etc.
It's a little more work, but was well worth it when my MIL told me she had a few calls from her relatives mentioning what a nice thank you card the received. Any time you can gain points with MIL it's worth the small effort

Re: Help!! Does this sound pretty or corny??
I agree, we personalized them a little more. For example, one person each from my mom, dad & ILs lists each think they paid for a painting we picked up on our honeymoon, we told quite a few people that they helped pay for our new living room/den/bedroom furniture. They will never speak to each other to know that I said the same thing to them, but if they come over they can see what they 'gave' us.HTH

sounds good to me! I'll be in your position realllllllly soon! And I don't think you should call yourself an 'ex-bride'...how about a 'recovering bride'???

I agree with what Karen said. I would write what you have and be more specific with what you received from your guests.
