Help me decorate

We painted our living room/dining room kumquat- picture below and I want to get the curtains below- they are more burgundy- will it be a good contrast or look gross.

and if anyone has any suggestions that would help too- the curtains are $159 per panel & I need 4 dh thinks I'm nuts to spend that on curtains

IMHO--I don't think I like the curtains with the color. Did you go to the store with a swatch to see if they go well together?

Have you looked at brown curtains??

I actually think the colors look nice together. What finish is the paint though? The curtains look like they have a sheen material. Im only asking because if the paint is a glossy finish it might look a little too shiny with the curtains. But I do really like those colors together.

the paint is a semi-gloss so its not overly shiny. thanks for responding

I think copper or rust would work. I think the goldish color in the curtains is throwing it off for me!

you're not nuts and I think those curtains are gorgeous! If it'll make you happy to see them in your living room then I think you should splurge on them! And don't feel bad, DH told me one of his coworkers was on the phone yelling at his wife because she spent $50k on curtains. I hope that makes you feel better.

yes they are duponi silk- overstock has a bunch of them on special- yea believe it or not the $150 per panel is the sale price

I thought I saw some less than that on sale...I can't remember now if it was Fortunoff. Oh no, it may have been Macys when I was looking for something to use my gift card with. Do you have a lot of windows?

I think it looks nice.

If you need other options or looking for more places try country curtains.. they have a store in manhasset.

my mother's kitchen is a mustardy yellowish color, somewhat similar to your color, and she has alot of reds and greens and yellows in the kitchen. It looks very 'Mediterranean'. I would like the curtains to have more of the kumquat color in them. I think the red and kumquat color go great, but the curtains are lacking the kumquat color or any shade close to that. IMO.

Also, about the price. I would totally splurge on something like that lol After we moved into our new apartment, I made sure we had some really nice items. Things that will last long. If they are something that are of good quality, then it's worth the money spent on them. They will last you forever.

I agree. If they are for your home and you can swing the cost.. do it!

i like the colors together and you can still bring in other neutrals like tan, dark green, navy...etc.

Did you try Potterybarn? I got my dupani silk ones from there on sale for 70 bucks or so and I love them.
