Re: HELP ME - How do I become more.........

Girl, you better get out that foreman grill. You can do chicken, fish or vegeables on that.

Another option is get good seasonings for your meat. That will add flavor and taste to your food.

Re: HELP ME - How do I become more.........

Liz here is the crockpot i got at my shower (BBB)

A great way to cook even when you're on the go or away at work, this programmable slow cooker is a wonderful addition to any kitchen. Simply set the time and temperature on the 6-quart cooker and be on your way. When cooking time is complete, the warm setting is automatically activated. No stirring is required because the heat is evenly distributed. Comes with a removable, stoneware crock and glass lid that make serving a snap. Stoneware crock and glass lid are dishwasher safe.

Re: HELP ME - How do I become more.........

That looks good, I like the fact that I can leave home. Is this plugged in or what?
Is there any chance of fire or electric problems or is it relatively safe to leave on?
I am so clueless

Re: HELP ME - How do I become more.........

Crockpots scare me. I think I would inevitably set my house on fire - especially since my house is old and the electrical work is ancient.

Im sure they are safe in a good house though :D

Re: HELP ME - How do I become more.........

Just because you can't cook doesn't mean your a bad wife. Your DH loves you for you and the rest will come in time.

Unfortunately I cook almost every night after working 12 hours. My DH would set the house on fire if he even boiled water.

Just start off simple with like breaded chicken cutlets and rice. Everything is so instant now that you can whip up mashed potates, stuffing or rice in about 10 minutes in the micro. Do alot of your cooking on sundays and freeze. I make a large pot of sauce and freeze in individual containers so that makes an easy meal. Can't beat pasta and a salad. Or make a roast or a turkey on Sunday and they have leftovers for the next few days.....hot open sandwiches...turkey salad...heros.

As far as cleaning goes I'll all for a cleaning lady lol . I do enough all week long and don't want to scrub a toilet : ).

Re: HELP ME - How do I become more.........

Sweetie you are not alone. I am no chef and my name isnt mrs. suzie homemaker either. But i cant even practicee cooking right now because i dont even have a kitchen! We are still waiting to get it done.

Anyways being a bad cook does not make you a bad wife. I always tell my husband that I don't think i'll ever be the great cook my mom is (he loves her cooking) but he always tells me that it doesnt matter because he doenst expect gourmet meals anyway. He says he likes the basic simple stuff. I know I can count on him helping me out in the kitchen and with other chores as well.

Everything is a learning process. All you can do is try your best and practice cooking different things.
There are other domestic chores besides cooking that I am learning to do myself...Like laundry! LOL I've never done it in my life, my husband has been showing me how...LOL LOL before we got married he'd been living on his own for years so he's used to doing some house chores.

Hang in there...you can do it!

Re: HELP ME - How do I become more.........

If this is any encouragement...I was never a bad cook...but I just didn't do it often (on my own...I was very happy with my plain meals...)

but now that DH is working and I am not...I feel obligated to cook...and even though I don't really like meat...I have been doing very well...

there are some store marinades...but its so easy to do yourself...and then you only have to slap the meat on the grill (or GF grill)

experimentation (and practice) is the best way to learn cooking IMO
