Re: hosting a holiday?
i started hosting christmas eve like 5 years ago on my own in my tiny apartment in queens lol so if i can have my family over all at once in a cramped 1 bedroom without the help of anyone you can do it with your dh. its actually really fun

Re: hosting a holiday?
I am not married yet, but I was lurking,,30 days til the big day..Anyways, FH and I have been living together for 4 years and I have hosted Chanukah for the last 2 in my apartment.(Hopefully, I have impressed my FMIL cause I am not jewish and make kickin matzoh ball soup and latkes at least my FH tells me so :)) It is a little cramped, but we have a blast!!! Reminds us that the holidays are about family and food! I made soo much there was no room on my tiny dining room table.

Re: hosting a holiday?
we're going to host the post holiday party this year at our co-op!here's the story.....i have two older cousins on my dad's side....they are his last living relatives. they used to always come to our house on christmas and eat dinner with us......and it ws one of the few times during the year that we saw them, so it was always nice.
they have both gotten married over the past few years, and now have new places to go for the holidays...so what we've been doing is throwing a post-christmas bash and someone's place.
the first year, one brother had gotten married, so they hosted, last year the other brother got married, so they hosted....and as it turns out...this year tom and i got married, so we get to host!
not sure what the plan is for next year though.....
i'm pretty excited about it!
it's a smaller party.....about 10 people.....but it's still a dinner party!

Holidays aren't so bad!! You can combine yours and DH's traditions and throw in a few of your own

I hosted a holiday party in my tiny basement apt. I did a buffet style party and it turned out great.

Re: hosting a holiday?
I host Christmas every other year and have also done an Easter or two. I started doing it when we had kids and didn't want to drag them all over the Island.

Re: hosting a holiday?
We've never hosted one yet. I usually tend to shun my wife when she wants to invite people over for a mass get together because I never think the place is clean enough.

Last year we hosted Thanksgiving. It ws fun to have everyone over and not have to worry about running around to see everyone else.

Re: hosting a holiday?
Holidays in our families are basically inherited, so I don't think I will be hosting one for a few more years.
