we just got our proofs and now i have to figure out which 100 pictures i want in our album... is there a method you girls used, so not to have too many of anything or to help you narrow it down? it's a little overwhelming... esp because i had 2 photographers so a lot of them captured similar pictures with just different angles or expressions... i keep going back and forth, back and forth, i'm making myself nutty!! and how, oh how, did you decide on a thank you?!

Re: how did you go about making your albums?
I went through every single proof and lined them up all over my floor...lol I then grouped all the similiar ones together and then decided on all my favorites. For my thank you's, I just wanted an up close shot of us and picked my fav. pic to use as that.

We picked pictures in categories:
Me DH Us seeing each other for the first time My family DH's family Bridal Party Ceremony Cocktail hour Us entering reception Reception
We had a total of 90 images though we contracted for 70. Pictures were added as backgrounds (keeipng the contracted amount of pages) but it was worth it for us to pay a little more to have the pages the way we wanted them. We did not put table pictures in the album because we had so many tables that it would have taken a lot of pages. We are putting our proofs in nice albums.

We laid out all of the 4 x 6 prints and went through them in order of the day. We pulled out all the photos we thought we wanted in the album. We then went back over them several times until we had it down to the contracted number - 220 photos for a 10 x 15 magazine style album.

First, I put them all into albums and then my mom and I (DH could care less, he loves the finished product, but doesn't like to help with that stuff) picked the ones we liked and kept eliminating.
Then we laid them out on the table to make sure they told a story.
Here is what it looked liek when we were done picking
Our photographer picked the top 200 and put them in a slideshow for us. Then we went from there and went down to 128 and put those in our album.

we put our proofs in albums in order of the days events (they came in that order). we went through all 672 of them many times together and put the little post its on the pics we liked the most, trying to tell the story of our day. we eventually narrowed it down to the 80 we liked the best and that was that. the thank you pic was easy bc we could pick 4 pics for ours, so we picked a few that we thought represented us and our day. it doesnt have to be done in one sitting! you might get overwhelmed with all those pics to go through, especially if they are very similar. take your time and follow your instincts! have fun!

Re: how did you go about making your albums?
thanks girls, for the advice. we picked our thank you pretty easily... DH wanted more of a traditional look, so that people could see our faces. i narrowed it down to 4 and he picked one. as far as the other pics, i think i narrowed it down to 120 for now... i'm taking a break for a couple of days and then will attempt to get it down to the 100 we are contracted for.
