pregnancy before and engagment or marriage? I know this is a touchy topic and I am in no way trying to start drama...I just wonder how people feel...I read the reactionsto things like beyonce married must be prego ..or ashley simpson getting married must be prego things and the judgments people have toward famous people for these things so just curious how people really feel about them

I am going to be honest here.

Before talking to some of the ladies on this board I have had NO positive examples of women who got pregnant before marriage.

I am not talking about celebrities, I am talking about the people I come in contact with in my real life. I have had some NOT so positive examples of it though. ((Those who know me, and feel like I am missing someone - let me know))

So, I will admit I had some preconceived notions of the whole subject. But now that I have some 'friends' who are AWESOME examples of motherhood.period. I have definitely changed my beliefs.

I have to agree here. The neighborhood I grew up in wasn't a great example of single motherhood. One of the kids in my vlassroom durign student teeachign was growing up ina household of single woman; her mom, her two aunts, and her grandmother and grandmother's sister....

Five total...all were on welfare yet wore more expesnive clothes than most celebrities and gleefully talked about how they 'socked it to the system.'

Examples like that made me shake my head like WHY. And it wasn't just about marriage. I don't have problems with people havign kids out of wedlock if they're ina a stable, committed relationship or if they are a single parent, are stable and committed and live for their kid as much as they can. But before coming here, I really didn't see that. I feel very strongly about people who have kids and then dont live for them and say 'i need my own life.' Yes you do but that does not include sleeping around or clubbing eevery week with a little guy at home waiitng for you with grandma. Its not fair to the kid.

Both caroline's, you girls ADORE your kids and you live for them and work hard for them. Thats good parenting, whetehr its single or ina relationship. But before coming here I didnt see that often so its nice to have my own preconceieve dnotions puleld apart a little with these great examples of strong women and loving mothers.

Ooo...Hmm I mean Im sure they are GORGEOUS pics but thats sorta like that movie with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman when they were married.. Forget the name of it-they were shrinks? Anywya the scene of them in their bedroom doing drugs and messing around..HATED that, Made me feel icky like looking into their bedroom as apeeping tom because I knw they were a couple.

I cover my eyes.

agreed - I think you should get married if you want to get married. I don't think people should marry just because they are having/had a baby together. If I thought my DH wasn't going to be a good husband, I wouldn't have married him.
