pregnancy before and engagment or marriage? I know this is a touchy topic and I am in no way trying to start drama...I just wonder how people feel...I read the reactionsto things like beyonce married must be prego ..or ashley simpson getting married must be prego things and the judgments people have toward famous people for these things so just curious how people really feel about them

Re: How do you feel about .....
I would rather see 2 stable single people have a child than 2 married people who can't handle being parents.
If that makes sense? Although for ourselves we definitely avoided pregnancy before marriage it was because we were not (and still aren't) ready for kids. However, if it did happen, we would have embraced it.

As long as someone is in a stable loving relationship and feel ready to have children, I dont think a marriage certificate matters. Having a marriage certificate doesnt automatically make people ready to have kids.

Re: How do you feel about .....
For me-I always said I want to be married, have a house, be comfortable before I have children-this is how DH and I both feel.
Im not saying that if we got preggo before all this I wouldnt be happy. We wanted to be able to say 'no you cant have that' b/c we dont want our children to have it not bc we cant afford it.
As far as preggo before marriage-i really dont see anything wrong with it-I think everyone has their views on the 'right and wrong' way of doing it-I dont think there is a right way of going about it. Do I think someone who had a child before they were married was wrong-definitely not.
My parents were never married and it was rough for them to raise me-we struggled but we got thru it-this is the reason i feel the way i do about wanting all those things first-but read WANT those things.
All children are gifts regardless of the paretns being married or not-I dont think a mothers/fathers love is different is they are married or not

I feel that everybody has to decide for herself. I have never judged anybody for being pregnant before marriage.
I feel the same way.

Re: How do you feel about .....
I think any two people who create a life and make a commitment to nurture that life are on the road to a fulfilled family. I think more of the couple who continue on in their loving relationship with their growing child, not choosing to get married/engaged, rather than the couple who jumps in to marriage/engagement due to pressure or obligation on what is 'right.' To me, raising the kid you've created is right.

i had a child before marriage.. i was with her father for 4 years before getting pregnant and for 2 years after she was born. things didnt work out between us as a couple, but we are still friends and he is still in her life. i never judge anyone for having children before marriage.

Re: How do you feel about .....
Well, my little girl was our flower girl so obviously, there is no judgement coming from me...
In all seriousness, I see no problem with it. If two stable people choose to have a child together, married or not, I say god bless. The marriage certificate is just a piece of paper. It will not make a couple better parents. I really think it's a personal decision that others on the outside shouldn't be judging. If the child is loved & cared for isn't that what matters in the end?
In the case of unplanned pregnancies, it's the same as above. As long as the child is well cared for then nobody needs to say a thing. Our daughter was unplanned. We could've chosen to get married right away, but we wanted to wait & make sure that's what we really wanted. We ended up getting when DD was 2. We did what was right for our family.

I am completely disgusted by it!
Just kidding! A child is a blessing. And every person i know that had a child before marriage said that they would never change their life! so i know if it happened to me, i might be 'disappointing' a lot of people but once that baby is born, all disappointment goes out the window!
