Re: how do you girls do it??
I definitely hear ya. I had to have a hear to heart with DH and let him know that I needed some serious help around the house. I was used to keep up with the chores around our one bedroom apartment, but now that we have a 3 bedroom house, I just can't do it.

Does your DH help with the cooking and cleaning as well?

Re: how do you girls do it??
It does take some time to get used to. I was having a hard time in the beginning as well, but now I have some type of routine. I also realized I can't do it all. I used to try and do everything all in one day, usually on Saturdays and then I felt like I had no weekend! I started to do a little during the week after work, so when Saturday comes, it's not to overwhelming. Also DH helps out a lot. He does majority of the cooking and helps with the cleaning. He used to do laundry, but now it's all me. He will help out if I ask him too. He will always cook, but everything else I have to ask and he always does help. Take some tasks and try not to burn out. I felt like I did in the beginning.

Re: how do you girls do it??
Have a sit down with DH and explain to him that he gained a wife, not a live in housekeeper.
It gets to me sometimes, but DH is learning that he can pick up a toilet scrub brush every once in a while and he has become friendly with the vacuum cleaner and Swiffer while I'm doing laundry. I can't do it all, not with a full time job.
He has yet to cook for me, but makes my coffee on the weekends -that means a lot because he doesn't drink coffee.

Ask your DH to help you out. There is no reason you should take on all of that all by yourself.

Agree. I always do the cooking, but I'm lucky that DH likes to clean, so he definitely pulls his weight around the house. You both have full-time jobs, there's no reason that you should be doing all the household chores.

I thank God that dh and I moved in together years before we got married. We got all the house cleaning fights out of the way. I definitely don't clean everyday although I do most of the cleaning because dh works 9 to 5 Mon-Fri and I work 2 days out of the week if that. He still cooks about 3 nights a week and will help wit the dishes and laundry once in a while. Definitely have a talk with him. You guys should be helping eachother out especially since you have a full time job too. It gets easier!

ITA! I love it! I say the best thing to do is plan plan plan and routine!!!!! I do a thorough cleaning every Saturday and just 'clean up' on the other days. I also only do laundry once a week except towels I do twice a week. I cook almost every night but I keep it simple except on the weekends when I experiment more.
As for asking DH to help, I haven't because I love my new role - but if you need the help I would ask for it! I cant even get mine to put the milk away in the morning!

Well my 2 best friends are ROOMBA and SCOOBA. DH gets 'depressed' by housework. No kidding that's a direct quote. He tries to help then does stuff wrong and I flip. We.re used to it now :) J/K sorta - you need to ask for help and/or assign tasks so he contributes!!!

Re: how do you girls do it??
It's been 2 months...I work full time and am a grad student. I'm still not used to it and I'm exhausted.
And DH's aunt had the audacity to ridicule me for not having her over for dinner yet. ugh...

Re: how do you girls do it??
First off He does his own Laundry
I work too so we clean the house together when we both have time. Him outside and dishes and garbage Me inside , picking up after him and once in awhile I cook.
Other than that we hire a service to come in every other week to clean.
And we do take out the other nights I am not cooking
I do my own Laundry and that is how we do it here.

Re: how do you girls do it??
We both work full time and split up chores this way.
My DH does his own laundry, takes care of all his clothes, takes out most of the garbage/recycling, puts the dishes away and makes the bed. Oh, and he cooks a few times a week! He's a gem.
I pay the bills, do my own laundry, the food shopping (b/c I actually like it) and the dishes. I cook many nights, wash my own clothes and am also the one who does all of the heavy cleaning (like mopping and the bathroom) once a week. Wow, I guess I am a gem too!

Re: how do you girls do it??
it definitely helps if you guys split some things.....like you should have your chores and he has his. i don't mind doing all the 'house' stuff. i think everyone is different and for me, i was raised to be a little 'traditional' with the roles. it sounds so 1950's but just for ME i feel like its my job to do the cleaning and cooking....DH doesn't have to handle that. so i know that when i get home, its time for me to cook. i also handle the bills.
however one thing i despise is laundry, and luckily he is very specific about his clothes, so he tends to do the laundry on days when i'm working and he has it down by the time i get home. also if i'm doing the cooking, he's doing the dishes. he also handles the laundry and feeding the cat but i clean the litter box.
we both do the food shopping and other random errands
if you guys make agreements on what the other will do--that makes a big difference. but it also depends on the type of 'expectations' that you both have. doesn't hurt to have that kind of talk!

Same here. We lived together before we were married so everything was put to the test then. So now we have everything down pat. I clean and we both cook but he is Mr. Fixit.

Same here. Dh does most of the outside things but I do most of the inside cleaning. He does help here and there but I do most of it. My next convo is to see if we can get a service for cleaning. But cooking we are good usually whoever gets home first cooks. (which is mostly me LOL) But Ask if he can help otherwise you will own those chores for the rest of your life and be unhappy
