How 'green' are you and DH?

Just curious...

We try to be as green as we can...

permanent coffee filters instead of paper
recycling anything and everything we can
unplugging the chargers for our phones/laptop if they are not being charged
washing all our clothes (except whites) in cold water
DH rides a bike to work instead of driving

I'd like to get a clothesline to dry the clothes outside rather than in a dryer

I'd love to hear how other people are 'green' to get some more good ideas!

DH and I are so bad. There is probably a giant hole in the ozone above our heads.

I'd love to hear some more suggestions though!

dh is the recycling king, i leave that up to him bc he yells at me about what im doing wrong and what goes with what and sometimes i put the wrong recycling things together. He even still does the recycling when he goes by his parents home.

I buy the flourescent light bulbs, which helps alot. I read this article that said if EVERYONE did this it would be more effective than less cars on the road. It also says to lower the temperature on your fridge by very little and i have, also waiting until dishwasher is full and not doing TOO many loads although its hard lol.

I use green works products to clean the house...
unplug things from outlets it also saves us a good amount of $...using those energy saving light bulbs...shut the heat off during the day. Recycling those plasitc grocery bags and using a tote bag...Its hard but every little thing counts

yeah...I also try to use totes...when I remember

and if I go to CVS for something little, or even the grocery store, I tell them I don't need a bag and I just carry it out...DH can't stand when I do this tho

we recycle EVERYTHNG we can
we dont turn the heat on on the first floor unless its the weekends & when were not home the heat on the second floor goes off
hang dry clothes as much as we can (and i never use hot water to wash with.. unless there is a major need for it - like a stain on a white shirt or something)
we havent done the engery saving bulbs yet, but i would like to!

well, we used to recycle and now we do not because our complex does not. We have made other changes though that help make a difference. The cleaning products that we use are green and we use a silpat (silicone sheet) for baking instead of aluminum foil on the pans every night.

Recycle
I use Tote Bags for food shopping (also makes it easier on me when I am carrying them by myself)
Turn off Heat when not needed
Lights are a off at home a lot (I like the dark)

There are more I just cant think of them.

We recycle
Dry clothes on a drying rack instead of using the dryer.
clean everything on cold water
unplug all unneeded appliances
have a few florecent bulbs but need to get the dimmer ones.
Turn off all lights that aren't in use

we just installed programable thermostats in the house. They only go as high as 62 degrees and then we use our Wood Burning Stove for heat. LOVE IT!!!

energy eff light bulbs

unplug what we don't use daily - everything on a power strip so its one quick flick

only homemade/natural cleaners are used

we leave our bottles and cans out for the recycle bin

try to wear things twice before washing except undies

we have a programed thermostat

we use reusable shopping bags

we sometimes walk to the grocery store if we go to IGA

Thats about it - we can def. do better but we do what we can. In four-five years i plan to buy a hybrid when my current car is no longer able to work/run or get me places.

We (or I lol) recycle everything we can

Replacing light bulbs with fluorescent light bulbs as they die out

Turn down/off heat, A/C when not at home

Run dishwasher and washing machine after 10 PM (energy costs less late at night)

Wash all clothes in cold (except whites)

When my car is dead I want a hybrid I have a few years to go though.

-most of the bulbs in our house are florescent
-we recycle glass, plastic, cans, tin foil, paper products, cardboard
-we wash our clothes in cold water
-I unplug the microwave when not in use and shut off the printer
-we use green cleaning products like green works and seventh generation, even for laundry detergent
-I use totes for grocery shopping, sometimes i forget but I drop off the plastic bags in the recycling bin the store has
-we try not to drive as much (also because of the cost of gas)
-we keep the heat at 68 degrees in colder months, and AC set at 74 degrees in summer
