How late do you accept phone calls at night?

First, a little background: The other day MIL called DH at work to inform him that his 94 yr old grandfather with Alzheimer's is in the hospital because he cut his lip with scissors. He will be ok but they want to put him in a home. Later that night at 10:00, DH and I just sat down to watch SVU and cuddle when MIL's number comes up on the caller ID. We were both nervous so DH answered. Turned out she called just to BS and tell him about a photo she just came across. Are you serious? FIL (not married to MIL) calls late at night as well. Sometimes we are getting ready for bed but DH feels guilty ignoring their calls so he will answer.

We don't have any children or pets to worry about waking up, but my parents always had a 'no calls after 9pm' rule (unless it was seriously important of course).

So, just out of curiousity, is anyone else bothered by late night calls that can really wait until the next day? How late is too late for you?

i wouldnt want a call after 9 - and i dont make phone calls after taht time either

When I get a call after 9:00, that's when I assume something is 'wrong' ... because I don't talk on the phone that late!

This is why when we were still planning our wedding and a vendor called us at 10:30 on a Sunday night we automatically dismissed working with them.

for me, i really don't care. i usually call my parents before i go to bed anyway to say goodnight and they accept my phone calls so if they were to call me i wouldnt mind. no big deal for me.

10 pm has always been our cutoff time for phone calls.

im a night bird and so is my fam...my parenst are up till at least midnight lol sometimes im on the phone with my sis or maybe a liw girl till at least 11

We have caller ID, so we only pick up if it's our family calling. We've gotten calls pretty late before, more DH's side than mine haha, but we pick up, because it's usually something relatively important. Never BS-y stuff.

We get calls pretty late and we do not care. DH owns his own business and often gets calls at all hours. My friends and family know I am up late and it is usually the only chance I have to have a conversation.If you are bothered by late night phone calls let your friends and family (including MIL) know that you would appreciate if they did not call past a certain time unless it is an emergency. You always have the choice to let the call go to voice mail- Stop answering late night calls and people will get the hint.

Well i guess it wouldnt bother me but i do think its odd they would call that late. I mean my parents & In-laws woul dnever call past 9pm unless its an emergency or something important. Also no-one calls before 9am as well.

They do realize that you are newlyweds right? Perhaps around 10/11 u may be ummmmm busy lol lol Maybe Dh should talk to them about calls after 9/930

Im a 'stat up late' kinda girl so usually I dont mind calls till about 10 or 11... but I get texts all night long, haha. I never call out after 9 though. I realize that just because I stay up till 1 or 2 am doesnt mean everyone else does...

When I was in school my parents had 9pm. As I got older it was 10pm. I think 10pm is a good rule. On weekdays that is.

My dad works midnight shift so he is always calling like after 11 on his way to work so it doesnt really matter...I sometimes dnt pick up tho if I am tired
