did you wait to cash your wedding checks?

I gave 2 checks for 2 weddings one on June 19th and one July 3rd....the July one was cashed but the June one hasn't. It's almost been a month.

honestly we cashed most of them the next day...

since we had a joint account together, they took the checks that said just chris' name, or jessica and christopher duda, the ones just made out to me Jessica Duda,(dont think there were many) we waited till after i got my marriage licence so we can switch my name over at the bank to take them...but we got our marriage licence as soon as we got back from the honeymoon...

i hate writing checks for that reason, i dont balance my check book cuz im constantly using my debit card, so i wuold never be able to keep track...and i just like to see the money come out asap! that way i dont confuse myself!

I think it took us 2-3 weeks...we waited till after the hm and we wanted to setup a joint acct as well

We did them all within the next week, since we had a week until we left for the HM.

Did everything when we came back from the HM which was like 10 days after the wedding

We did it the next morning.
I was contacted about 2 to 3 months after my wedding from a guest because his check was never cashed. It turns out I never received their card at all. I'm worried there are other cards I didn't receive either.

If they don't take the money out in a few weeks, I would contact them just to make sure they received your check. Strange things can happen.

Our wedding was on April 23 & we deposited the checks when we arrived back from our honeymoon on May 6. So about 2 weeks after.

We only got to doing this last weekend but we have a kinda good reason...see, DH's first name that everyone calls him isn't his real first name...so the bank was giving us some major prolemos with anyone who made checks out to his 'common' name, as opposed to his given name. Also, some people on his side made checks out to his MIDDLE name , WHY, we don't know. So that caused yet more issues.

We got it all sorted out this weekend...took two hours at the bank...seriously, we went in there with the wedding invites from both receptions and various things that show him as using his 'common' name in everyday life.

Ladies who are going to any Indian weddings....MAKE YOUR CHECKS OUT TO 'CASH'....it's mad easier as the gifter.
