How Long Did It Take To Get Your Marriage Certificate?

How Long Did It Take To Get Your Marriage Certificate?

Since we postponed the honeymoon until June, I'm travelling under my married name but obviously still have to change it. I'm sure it'll be fine but I'm freaking out a little bit that it's all done in time

How long did it take until you got the original certificate? And then, if you ordered additional certified copies, how long until you got those?

We got our marriage certificate about 9-10 days after the wedding. While on our HM it came.

while on the honeymoon we got it. You should get it soon. Make sure you updte everything - Driver's Licence, Passport, SS Card, Medical Insurance Cards etc ....

I asked a similar question and it seemed like everyone else got theirs very quickly, much faster than me. So I am sure you'll be fine.

Ahh, did you got to the court house in Kew Gardens?


No, we went to the Town Hall in Manhasset. So I was surprised that the certificate took so long because we were in and out of there in 15-20 minutes when getting the license.

We live in Queens but we'd heard that the places to apply for licenses were usually super-busy, and we met a couple in Manhasset who said they'd waited two hours and then decided to leave!

I was so glad to get the cert. finally. I was worried that it had gotten lost in the mail and we would have had to do it over!

We got our marriage certificate about 2 weeks after our wedding.

Ours came while we were away & we were only gone a week. There was an error & dh was able to get it changed right away. Passport changignt akes the longest , so I would suggest getting anoptehr copy & doing that right away, so you still have one copy to do SS & DMV. Those are easy, besides the waitign on line. Both took about a week & a half to arrive.

I forget, I think about a month. I never changed my passport and last month I went to Mexico - I just took my passport (in maiden name) and showed them my marriage certificate and I had no problem. I have since sent it all off to be updated.

you don't know how happy that just made me! I am going to Canada on Monday & my passport is in my old name, but my ticket, is in my married name.

I didn't want to send it in & then if it didn't come back in time have no passport at all.

Also- I took a day off work, and went to Social secuirty and DMV right away, I think I did that around the March 22nd. I have my New license and new social security card already. So the major changes take less then a month.

Ours took over a month too! Well, technically it would've taken less, if somebody had told us that we had to go pick it up. I guess they do things a little differently in NJ? Luckily, my Aunt went to pick it up for us and mailed it to us right away. They also charged her $10 when she picked it up. It was definately strange.
