How to word thank you notes?

Our proofs are ready!!!!!! YIPEE! anyway, I have been wondering how to word the thank u notes. I have been doing some in drips and drabs for people who werenot able to attend but sent me a gift. Here is what I wrote-


Dear XYZ,
'Thank you so much for the geneorous gift you gave to Alex and I for our wedding.
It was so thoughtful of you to remember us on such a special occassion.'
I want to add some more stuff to the thank you, especially since a lot of people were so generous and went out of there way for us. I have no idea what to write. HELP!!!

I wouldn't word it thank you for the gift you got Alex and I, only because the thank you is supposed to be coming from both of you, not just you. I would stick to thank you for the generous gift you gave us, or just thank you for the generous gift. JMO


Here is what I wrote in my thank you's:

Dear so and so,

Thank you so much for the generous wedding gift. We are so happy you were there to celebrate our special day with us. Thank you for all your good wishes and for giving us wonderful memories to cherish forever.

Love, Jaime and Michael


For people that didn't attend:

Dear so and so

Thank you so much for the generous wedding gift. We are so sorry you were not able to celebrate our special day with us. You were truly missed. Thank you so much for all your good wishes.

Love, Michael and Jaime

They sound a little corny, but OMG, it is so hard to fill a thank you card and this was the best that I came up with!!

ETA- this was more or less what they said, in some I added stuff, depending on how close I was to the person!

I agree with all that Boop wrote! That is pretty much what John & I did!

The line that is printed in the thank you can be general. Then personalize each one a little bit. That way you can show your appreciation to those that were very generous.
