your DH & you had talked about him getting a new car and said the two of you would go & look together and then he went out without you 'just to look' and ends up leaving a deposit for a brand new SUV?

I would be upset too....let him pay for a little bit but then enjoy the new car...at least he did pick someting really nice. We just bought a brand new Toyota 4Runner and love it! Our friend bought the Highlander and love it so far too!!!

Funny story - After the deal was made and the car was ours the sales manager was telling us that they love when the man comes in alone to buy the car! I think car sales people know how to convince the guy to make the purchase...they said once they come back with their wife - they know it will be much harder to sell the car...and it was so the case with us too! At the end of the deal they asked me if I was in sales (I am not and I know nothing about cars - don't even have a drivers license!) because I was such a tough sell. They said they thought they had my husband until I came along. lol

i would definitely be upset too! it's a major purchase that he didn't consult you on. there's just something with guys and cars, they can't resist.

Roger and I discussed us getting a new car/SUV, we did not even put the current car up for sale yet, he said he was going to test it and see how he liked it, guess what??? he came home with it,

I was very hurt and disappointed but he claimed he was thinking of a safe car for the family. Yeah right. It was already done, what could I do but drive it. I know its not a nice feeling, to feel like you were left out of such a big decision, but like I looked at it, I said and this too shall pass.

When they go to these places they get all excited and lose all sense of what they are supposed to do

I think a purchase so large should be discussed. Can he get the deposit back??

maybe he was being offered a really good deal that he couldn't refuse? and if he had come back later, he would have missed it? that's the only good excuse i can think of...

Wow. When we brought Nicolas home from the hospital we realized that his carseat didn't fit well in my car. Later that week Patrick went out and bought me one of the 2 SUV's I had been very interested in as a surprise 'Thank you for my son' gift. I was thrilled.

Maybe I should have made him take me with him??

I can see if it's an unexpected gift.. but we had been talking about it AND agreed to look together.. yep I'd be ticked.

Im a car chic though and Jim knows he'd be dead if he bought a car without me. (SUV whatever).

We are both looking at the new Mazda 3 coming out but we both know that wont happen until after the wedding. Still if he just brought it home, I'd be happy, but if he went off and took a look at another car we were looking at and put a deposit on it without me... OOhhh man.. Dog house isn't far enough away for that man should he do that to me.

Thanks Ladies......at least I now really know I'm not crazy for feeling the way I do/did (getting better). We'll see after I go see one Friday. Then I'll think of lots of ways for him to make it up to me all weekend although he is working Sat & Sun.

I think he could have at least called you and told you to meet him at the dealership to get your input before he put a deposit.

He does seem sorry tho.

Honestly I would discuss the importance of being a TEAM. In the future ALL MAJOR decisions should be made TOGETHER.

He went all the way out east to a dealer there that a co-worker referred him to and I could NEVER meet him because I don't drive.

We had a short talk yesterday when I was on lunch he came to meet me & we sat in the car & talked about how it made me feel. Then last night we got into bed & talked for about an hour about how important it is that we talk things through & make major decisions TOGETHER. He is VERY sorry & knows that I was hurt badly by his decision. In fact as we were laying in bed talking I believe I saw in the shadows him wipe a few tears from his eyes. He is trying soooooooooo hard to do everything he can to make it up to me. And I am starting to feel bad that he feels so bad!

My hubby just bought a new car and we did it together. That would really bother me. I know he wouldnt of made that huge purchase without discussing it with me.
