okay so i had this argument with my mother yesterday and i need to see everyone else opinions of it
on our bed we have two comforters, one decorative and one is a down blanket. i use the down and DH uses decorative, i like to cacoon myself in a blanket
my mother thinks its absurd that we dont use a sheet. and of course in the store another older lady agreed!
so i ask what do you guys use
and im not talking about the fitted sheet, ...im talking about the top sheet!
eta: my mom thinks that its the new generations that doesn't use a sheet, so lets see

I like to be tucked into the sheet and then have the comforter over that. I have it set up like the hotels do.

omg at a hotel, DH hates me, i literally take the sheets, that fuzzy blanket off and throw it on the floor and then bring on the comforter!

I keep the flat sheet on the bed and we sleep with both. DH cares more about the comforter.. but I get hot and cold while I sleep so I love sleeping with a sheet... it's just light enough that it doens't make me hot and I still have something covering me. I LOVE sheets!!

I take both the comforter and if there's a fuzzy blanket off the bed. I'm grossed out by them in hotels - I don't think the comforter or the heavy blankets are washed as much at all. The sheets are the only things I KNOW they cleaned...so in hotels, I DEF JUST sleep with the sheet!!
Some hotels now use the white washable blankets that are cleaned between each guest for sanitary reasons.

We have a sheet on the bed, but mostly sleep under the comforter. I like it that way because it’s easier to make the bed in the a.m. (I’m super lazy)

If it's summer, then I use a flat sheet/no comforter. When it's chilly though, it's no flat sheet/yes comforter.

I am with you on this one. I won't even touch the comforter or blanket...I make DH push it down to the foot of the bed. Then I just sleep with the top sheet. Don't care if I'm cold!

DH and I tried the whole top sheet thing, but it ended up getting pushed to the foot of the bed every night and since I don't make the bed every day...it just finally hit the floor and I put it in the laundry...and never put it back on.

If I'm at a hotel I don't like my body to touch the comforter/fuzzy thing either so I tuck myself into the flat sheet, same as I do at home.

What do you wash the comforter every time you change the sheets?
Sorry guys but I feel like you have to have a flat sheet. This way you wash the sheet and leave the blanket and or comforter on the bed and wash them less frequently.

Colleen no, haven't you ever seen those specials. The sheets get washed, the comforters don't. Don't ever let your body even touch those comforters. GROSS! I won't use airplane blankets either unless they are packaged.
Unless its one of those hotels with the big washable downs... thats different but they don't give you flats.

I have a comforter and a light-weight blanket on the bed.
I use the sheet and the comforter. DH can't stand the sheet so he sleeps either in between the sheet and th comforter or between the comforter and the blanket.
....and don't get me started on hotel rooms! I always travel with a huge can of lysol and spray EVERYTHING down before we touch anything. Oh and the comforter and the blanket definitely get thrown off the bed never to be used. YUCK

Anytime we sleep with a top sheet, we kick it down to the foot of the bed while we are sleeping ... so we just gave up.
My mother thinks this is ludicrous but it just doesn't work for us!
We share the comforter.

We use both, the flat and fitted sheets. IMO (please don't be offended), I think it's kinda gross to not use a flat sheet. No matter how clean your body is, you will still soil the sheet a bit after sleeping with it for a week. I'd rather soil my sheets and wash them weekly than soil a pretty and costly comforter.
