I can't believe our marriage license came in the mail today. I was wondering for those of you who have changed your name, do I need to order a copy (at $10 a piece) for everything I need to change? DMV, credit cards, Social security, cell phone, bank info, insurance, ...there are so many things.
SS, Bank and DMV where the only ones that wanted to see it. I brought the original and they made a copy.
WOW you got yours already???? Hopefully I will have mine when I get back from my HM!

so, then they gave you the original back? i trying to figure out if i need to order additional copies or not.
OK, thanks. Now I'm sitting here making a list of everything I need to change. I'm going to start with Social Security. I know I have to go to the Jamaica office.

Me either...I feeling very stressed now because I'm one of those people that has to get things done right away.
Just make sure you have the correct marriage license. You need the one from the state. My certificate from the church arrived quickly and I thought it was the only one so I went to DMV and waited hours just to find out another one was coming in the mail which is the only one you can use!

I still haven't gotten mine back and decided to call today about it. Turns out that they sent it to the wrong apt. # in my complex 3 days after my wedding. DH is going to go by the apartment they sent it to today to see if the people have it, but if they don't the clerk's office won't send an original copy to us - how crappy is that??? They said that we can get a certified copy instead (that we have to pay for even though they are the ones that screwed up and sent it to the wrong apt.) but it makes me sad to think we will never have an original copy if the people in the apartment don't have it.

It came from the Town Of North Hempstead. The place where we went for the license.
