I'm going after work. Maybe I should ask my girl if she is the owner. That should determine if I am going to tip or not.

I only tip if the owner's father is Korean---mother is from Taiwan and they use slave labor in their shops.

Cause I support slave labor...particularly when small children are involved.

I also make sure you ask to see their birth certificate and demand that its a notarized translated copy before I give ONE DOLLLAR!

I think they are preforming a service regardless. If you understand the industry and how it is run you will know that the 'owner' does not make tons of money at the end of the day. Did they not do your nails Do you think they are rolling in dough? B/c you do .. you guessed wrong.. American , Asian.. w hatever...

It shouldn't matter what culture they are you are patronizing them anyway. Just sayin....

i agree, thats why she made the post bc someone on BHB asked if she should tip a korean nail salon owner lol. I also have to tip, i dont care who owns it. My mom has owned nail salons and i always try to explain that just bc someone is the owner, doesnt mean they are making tons of money, and better off than the employees. As the owner you have to pay the rent, buy all the supplies which can be pretty often, pay for advertising and so on.

I think we were all surprised that the korean part had to even be thrown in there

personally I only tip if someone is Ecuadorian. Otherwise they might not accpet it....

yeah i figured if someone didnt read that thread they would be really confused, and i realized you thought we agreed with not tipping an owner

Well the stripper at DH's batchelore party owned the business and she really went above and beyond the call of duty, you know, so they tipped her like $500. She wasn't Korean.
