I know I sound like an ungrateful loser but

Original post by nrvbrd

at your wedding did you have ALOT of people bring ALOT of actual wrapped gifts? I mean these were not dainty little boxes, but huge shopping bags and punch bowl size boxes. I mean appreciate all the lovely gifts, but it took my family forever to load up those boxes in various cars and we had to stick around to dictate where everything should go.

Don't people know you are supposed to mail gifts?

I am being mean right???- Sorry.

I totally agree with Keisha. Those of you who didn't get gifts at the reception don't realize what a pain it was. I am grateful for all my gifts and I realize that they all meant well but we had a lot of trouble getting it all home. Fox Hollow helped us bring it all out but I had maybe 14 boxes, plus extra food and favors and assorted left over stuff. One person who did this lives 2 blocks away from my mother, another lives 3 blocks away. Couldn't they just drop it off? We literally stood around at the end organzing cars. My mother almost didn't have a ride home. I would never tell them but it was a pain in the ass, probably the only really anoying thing of the night.

Sandy, thanks for your perspective

Tammy, thank you as well. You echoed my sentiments. My wedding ended at midnight. I was very tired needless to say and I wanted to begin my wedding night. There were so many HUGE boxes.Luckily we had quite a few cars, but it so long to get things siutated.

I got the Perfect Pancake maker at my wedding, the rest was delivered to my home before and after.

We got home from HM to a kitchen full of gifts from somewho went to wedding and those who didnt make it!

The rest was money

Just adding one more thing- these people are from NYC. Secondly someone said that shipping is expensive, but the gifts they gave:

i.e, a punchbowl- $39.99- shipping maybe $10 -$15 that should not break the bank.

I know I am harping but had to get that out.

But ya gotta think if they shipped it and it got lost or it got held up because they didn't have any to ship online then you would be complaining that you didn't get anything from these people. So maybe they felt they had to bring it and in the long run take joy it probably ****ed for them to bring it from NYC.

I'm sorry it happened.

We had family friends who shipped a crystal cake plate and the shippers at MACYS ****ed and it came in a million pieces and then there other part of the gift came about 3 months after the wedding because Macys decided it was on backorder and never told them. A huge mess in the long run!

I'm just trying to be the devils advocate.
