I'm a Newlywed! What to do first?????

Okay,now I have to go through the whole name changing process! p

What do I do first? Social Security??????

I want to wait on my drivers license until we move. Will that be a problem? It may be 4-5 months!

Where do I start?

Where is the Social Security office, does anyone have the phone number, address, or hours their open?

I know there is a SS ofc in Patchogue, where I have to go. Drivers license you can do now with your current address and then write it by hand on the back when you move until you change the address on it.

Bills and credit cards can be done by phone...look for the posting on name changing, someone bumped recently!!

I went to soc sec in Melville. Did that first, then DL.


ETA: I got my new ss card in the mail yesterday so it took exactly ten days.

SS is important. You can wait to change your licens, but when you need it for ID it is a good ide to have a copy of your marriage certificate just in case.

Credit Cards & bank stuff can usually be done through the mail or over the phone except you new signature card for your checking account. That should be done pretty soon.

that stinks!!! the mineola SS office doesn't have late hours. now i have to beg to get out early some day.... why do they do that??? people work you know!

do any of your local ones have late hours? I see brooklyn does but i'm not going to brooklyn!
