Recently I've realized I do most (if not all) of everything around the house. DH cooks the occasional meal, picks up the occasional take out dinner. So I was thinking how easy he has it and how much easier MY life would be if I had a wife doing my laundry, washing the floors, cleaning the bathroom, doing all the vacuuming...Anyone with me?

Re: I need a wife!
I hear you! DH usd to be a lot better with chores, but I feel like recently he dosn't do anything! Have you considered getting a cleaning lady? Tell your DH he can either do more around the apartment, or he can pay for a cleaning lady. They're not that expensive and you can just get one once every other week or even once a month.

Re: I need a wife!
Sadly, Bigamy is illegal.
I completely sympathise, though. DH does the laundry for me though, because I absolutely HATE going to the laundromat. Thankfully we'll have our own washer/dryer in a few weeks.
But then, I'll be doing the laundry.
Hmmm....
Not sure if this is a good thing...

I'm with you!!
It's not so much that I don't like doing all the chores, but it would be nice to know that I'm not the only one who cares about whether our house is clean.
DH says that he doesn't know where we keep the mop or which cleaner is the right one for the job. Ummm dude, you have a PhD...surely you can figure it out - it's not that tough!!

I hear ya! DH cooks a lot which is great! He avoides folding laundry like the plague but he does try and clean with me....unfortunately, his tolerance for a mess is much higher than mine so i'm always the one to initiate it

I am! Dh cooks dinner just about every night and that's about the extent of it. I do the rest and it is very tiring!

Aughhhhhhhhhh! I am totally with you. DH just doesnt see that all these things need to be done. My biggest pet peeve of his is when he puts his dirty clothes on top of the hamper, NOT ON IT!!!!!!!!!! Come on, what is so difficult about lifting the lid and sticking the clothes in it

Re: I need a wife!
I feel the same way! I asked DH to vacuum this past Sunday since he didn't want to go to the store with me and he told me 'there are other things that I want to get done, can't it wait til you get a chance!' Do I not want to get things done too? I do all the upkeep, cooking, shopping, errands, etc. Usually I get home after him and he seems to be always reclining with his feet up! I just finished working 9-10 hours and going to the grocery store. The only time he has cooked since we got married was after he lost a bet with me!

Don't hate me, but I think DH needs a wife!!!
He does the majority of the cooking and a fair share of the cleaning.

Re: I need a wife!
seriously!!! It's getting to the point where it's REALLY pi$$ing me off! The only thing he does is the dishes and he only does them about once a week. It's f*cking gross! I cook every night, I do the laundry, I clean EVERYTHING. He doesn't even pick up after himself. He leaves the soda out inthe living room. His clothes are piled neatly folded next to his bed because hes too damn lazy to put his clothes away when I wash them. I've tried being nice about it but it doesn't help. I'm going to have to turn into the nagging wife to get him to do anything. I'm so tired of it all that when i get home from work all I want to do is take a nap until DH gets home. he'll spend all weekend playing video games, then when I ask him to do the dishes it's like a major production.
And I get especially mad when he gets into the cleaning mood and decides he wants all this stuff done. no sorry, If you want it done you do it. I've done enough around here thanks. Maybe I should try playing video games while he's setting up for the super bowl, then we'll see how he likes it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! This is probably the #1 thing we argue about. I just wish that he cared as much as I do about the house and keeping it clean.

But the thing is he ALWAYS b*tches about how messy things are. But yet he doesn't do anything to clean it, so I tell him Well I don't feel like cleaning now, and he says 'I wasn't asking you to'. Well I don't see YOU doing anything about it!!! UGH i want to kill him sometimes.

Re: I need a wife!
I totally agree!!!!!
There are so many things, I don't know where to start....
1. If I leave a clean sink in the morning, I don't want to see your dirty lunch dishes sitting there when I get home from work.
2. If you leave for work after I do, please make the bed!!!!!
3. I do have Merry Maids come once a month. (I hate cleaning!!!)
4. If you see the TV screen is a bit dusty, don't tell me, 'it's a bit dusty, don't ya think??' Get off your a$$ and get a paper towel and glass cleaner.
His mother spoiled him. I should send him back for her to fix, then give him back to me. We don't have kids yet, but I'm definitely teaching them, especially the boys, how to be self-sufficient. I don't want their wives to go thru what I'm going thru!!!!

Just got back from my bowling league, and DH did not make the bed!!!! Are you KIDDING me???? ***????

See, DH doesn't CARE if the house is clean or not!!! It wouldn't faze him at all (so he says) if the neighbors stopped by and there was crap piled up to the ceiling. If I ask him to do something he'll do it, but first he'll try to get away with what your DH does. He claims that he doesn't know how to do things like clean the mirror in the bathroom. Uh, hello genius - get out the windex and the paper towels, spray, and wipe!!!! If he had it his way, he'd sit around all weekend in his underwear and do nothing other than play video games and watch football. It must be nice to be a man!

Re: I need a wife!
In defense of men...we're not all like that, though I realize that for a majority of us, you have us pegged. the only benefit I take from being a man, is the occasional use of 'outdoor' facilities when the need arises or presents itself. I've learned long ago that the secret of a happy relationship is cooperation (I guess this isn't so much of a secret). I do cook mostly since I get home first. I cheat a lot (frozen things, quick boxed rice/pototo), and DW is better at actually cooking. We both clean, and I think we've found that one person will have their 'thing'. Now that we have our own house, I think I've gotten better with keeping up with housework. There was a time when dirty luadry was just a pile of clothes next to my bed. I think with age, I've gotten better (like wine). So chin up ladies! I saw the error of my ways...although I was never a big football fan, and never saw the need to spend a whole Sunday watching games. It's rare that DW and I don't go somewhere together on the weekends. I do go shopping with her...I think I'm an exception to the rule.

Re: I need a wife!
I'm with the majority.
On the rare occasion that DH does help out, he tries to make me feel guilty about it.
