I need to move out of NY

I hate the cold

I will never be able to afford a house

I hate how crowded LI is and how expensive LI is

Does anyone know where I can move

I am dying to move to MD

Florida is so cheap right now ... but my mom is down there bc my parents have a condo and she says if we think the economy is bad in NY FL is wayyyy worse...

Many resturants and businesses are closing...when they go out to eat places that were packed this time (its peak season in Flordia) last year are totally empty....many hotels and rental units that are usually totally booked are vacant..

The job market is worse...and unemployment is Florida is only $250 (my friends who live there told me this)

Sorry to depress I guess my point is you can move, but everywhere has problems

Yea I totally understand that. I am not even saying I want to move because of the economy in NY. I just will never be able to start my life here with how expensive it is. What I would pay in taxes to live on LI could be my MORTGAGE payment somewhere else!

any places that you or your DH's job can re-locate to?

my DH can re-locate to an Orlando office so that is why we chose Florida - and my parents and sister are there - we plan on going in between his job and my family (we found an area that we like that is about 40 mins away from my parents and 40 mins away from his job)

that is our master plan

i am totally with you - sick of cold, sick of house prices, sick of it being crowded.....on paper florida def has more PRO's than CON's - it doesn't make sense for us to stay here - i just hope we like it down there

yeah the foreclosure rate in florida is EXTREMELY high right now, its pretty bad there.

Well unless you move on the west coast, anywhere else you move even a few hours away you will deal with the cold and many places even worse than here. I like once in a while to go to DH's house in the poconos, its a real nice getaway for a weekend but thats it. I personally couldnt live there but it definitely is alot more quiet and laid back. But their winter is worse than ours, snows alot more.

yep! in florida there is no state or city tax - it will be like DH is getting a raise just from that alone.....

also on the news i saw that arizona actually has the highest foreclosure rate and doing bad.

I totally understand it is insane in NY....Well if I was seriously considering moving the first I would do if figure ou if I could transfer jobs...Im not sure what line of work your in but maybe you could relocate? Or DH?

This can narrow down locations based on your careers....HTH

yeah thats the problem, with businesses closing down alot too there are less job opportunities. In a city like new york to be hard to find a job, imagine somewhere smaller

Oh yea if you can move to FL and make a NY salary you have it MADRE and would be rich down there!

My bff is a pharmacist and does very well...she would make the same in Florida and literally be able to buy a mansion comapred to a condo in Bergen County, NJ

So yeah if you can keep a NY salary it is defintly a different story

yeah my mom said that by her in florida its not that good - lots of places are closing down, people are losing jobs - she works in macys at the mall and she said the mall is dead....where she lives isn't close to any big cities - im not sure how places like orlando and jacksonville are doing as far as people losing jobs go - b/c those places have more office type jobs like you would see in NYC

oh yeah that is no good - im the opposite - i have this thing where i turn blue sometimes especially if i am cold - its called reynards so i think i will like the warm A LOT better hahahahaha
