i need wall decor

so the walls in my house are pretty bare. we plan on putting up a few wedding pictures, but we need other things too...

we want a large mirror for the formal living room, i need a small picture of a pear to go on the opposite side of our hutch (my mother got us one pic, it looks stupid with it on one side and not the other)

and i just need other things, DH hates stuff on the walls, i'm the type to cover every inch of wall in pictures.

so girls, i need inspiration.

How about a compromise between you and your DH? You can put up a couple of long shelves and keep switching out accessories on them! It will keep you happy because you'll always have new decorations and your DH happy because it's not all over the place. This one is random, but something like this:
