I was watching something on the National Geographic Channel of all places last night (it was about the evolution of different breeds of dogs - yes, I'm a dork). This commercial for Red Bull comes on where a bird craps on this guy's shoulder - he drinks Red Bull, then pulls out a slingshot and shoots the bird out of the sky! Then it says something dumb like 'Red Bull also stimulates your mind.'
Maybe it was just that what I had been watching had made me feel particularly sympathetic toward cute animals, but was that really necessary? Do kids really need to be encouraged not only to drink high-sugar energy drinks but to abuse animals too? The kids in my middle/high schools used to feed Alka Seltzer tablets to the seagulls and it would make their stomachs explode.
Whoa, sorry for the soapbox. It just irritated me. I'm done now

You know how 'Red Bull gives you wings'? I figured he'd drink the Red Bull and sprout wings, then fly with the bird to freak it out or something.

i thought the commercial was stupid too...we should boycott Red Bull! haha...i actually never really liked any of their commercials...maybe they need to hire my DH for better marketing!! haha

I am seriously considering complaining to the Humane Society. There are enough stupid people out there already abusing innocent animals without having to be encouraged to do so by popular product advertising. Not to mention it scares the heck out of me how many young kids drink that stuff. But I promised I'd get OFF the soapbox.

The original commercial, the guy does get wings & he starts to fly higher than the bird, unzips his pants & proceeds to pee on the bird in return.....They didn't actualy show him doing it but you got the idea of what he was doing/going to do. This was over a year ago & i think they stopped showing it because people complained. This new commercial replaced that one but its not better, both are horrible commercials.

I dont like the red bull commercials at all.
Tho, the mafia one I liked.
They have a guy throwing another guy into the water-before he does he asks for a red bull-right after they throw himin the other guy is onthe phone with the boss saying they have a problem...he asked for a red bull and the guy they threw in the water is hovering over the water with wings

In that cartoon, the bird and the man are portrayed as adversaries and equals... and the bird looks a tad mallicious when he poops on the man... as if it's on purpose.
IMO, you don't have to take a cartoon of that nature so seriously... that's like PETA being against tom and jerry due to mouse cruelty....

to me it's not at all...
How many people would be disturbed (as if it were promoting violence) if they guy shot a cork at another guy's butt in a cartoon? I think people just get supersensitive when animals are involved...
it IS only a cartoon......... and much less violent than the ones we grew up with....

I remember the original commercial. Yup. I thought it was PRETTY FUNNY. I love the thought of someone peeing on a bird. I've been pooped on AT LEAST 3X. Haven't seen the one with the cork.
I JUST saw a commercial on TV of a guy sweeping with a little pomeranian (fluffy dog). I thought it was pretty funny too.
Disclaimer: I don't shoot corks at birds, nor did I ever sweep with a pomeranian....and babies don't really get access to computers to trade stocks. It's all shock value. I gotta agree with portjeff...

this has nothing to do with red bull or shooting birds, but did any of you see the commercial where the cute little dog does not get adopted and it says 'for every dog that gets adopted...one dog doesn't.' It was the saddest commercial I have ever seen and made me 1. cry and 2. want to adopt a dog.
